00:00There's just a lack of housing, so like most of my friends are not, they're all still living at home
00:05and very few people have actually moved out or have even had the opportunity to move out.
00:10According to Zoopla's recent survey, Bristol ranks 12th in the South West with an average
00:16house price of £337,000 in the last 12 months. The Cotswolds ranks the most expensive in the
00:24South West with an average house price of £463,000. But a local's concerned about property prices.
00:33You know, for someone who, say, is young at the moment, you know, it's like 20s, early 30s,
00:37it's worrying, it's a worrying trend. You know, I'm trying to get on the land of myself,
00:42property owner, and it's just becoming more and more unrealistic as it goes on,
00:46if the trends continue to go up and up. I like the rental market is quite hard
00:51for people to sustain because renting is really expensive, do you?
00:54Yeah, renting, even like I've seen properties or like rental prices kind of just double
01:00nearly in the last couple of while. Like, I don't know, from my experience in Ireland,
01:05like you might be paying €700 a month for like a room, but that's kind of gone up now to like
01:12€1,500 a month.
01:16Property prices last year in Bristol went up by 2.6%. Is that something that worries you?
01:23There's no way I could buy anything at the moment. Maybe one day.
01:30It would have to be when I have a considerable amount of money.
01:36You can allow me to buy something that I really want.
01:40Do you think that it's going to be impossible for kind of young people to get on the property
01:44ladder then? Yes, I think we should have curbs on rents so that people can afford somewhere to
01:52live because I know lots of young people who've had to move out of Bristol because they just
01:56can't afford the rents.
