00:00So there's some wonderful health benefits to giving up alcohol, whether it's for a month
00:07or whether it's taking a longer break.
00:10You can look short term and some of the short term benefits are improved mental focus, improved
00:15sleep, improved clarity.
00:17Longer term, we're looking at things like reduced risk of cancer, improved brain health
00:22overall, as well as improved weight management.
00:25There certainly is a significant increase.
00:28So around two in five people are now either participating in Dry July, Feb Fast or some
00:34other month throughout the year.
00:36And statistics are showing that 84% of people are actually disagreeing that taking a break
00:42is still socially unacceptable.
00:45So there's really a larger increase in people who are wanting to reduce their consumption
00:50of alcohol and really reap the health benefits.
00:53So I think it really comes down to if you choose to have a drink, make sure that you
00:57don't overdo it.
00:58Have something that you enjoy, sip it slowly and make sure you drink plenty of water along
01:02with that to make sure that you're keeping yourself as healthy as possible throughout.
01:07And my suggestion would be choose the thing that you actually really enjoy.
01:11There's always going to be people talking about the lower calorie options or there's
01:16a few little nutrients that you'll find in some red wine, but I'd suggest to choose your
01:20favourite and make sure that you only have one or two.
