Floods, extreme heat, snow, and even a tornado—nature threw everything at Brisbane runner Tim Franklin during his quest to run around the world. Today, he crossed the finish line in his home city, becoming only the eighth person to circumnavigate the globe on foot.

00:28Tim Franklin's journey began long before he strapped on the runners
00:32realising his poor diet and alcohol could send him to an early grave.
00:37I've been working as a solicitor for a long time
00:40and came across a lot of heartache and a lot of messages
00:43about where due to one thing or another parents were burying their own child.
00:48So in December 2022 he set off from Brisbane to run around the world.
00:53Yeah, the world record was a carrot dangling
00:55but it was never the be all and end all.
00:57The adventure took him across 19 countries, four continents
01:01and some of the harshest conditions on earth.
01:04He went through 21 pairs of shoes and was attacked by wild dogs
01:08and there was great sadness with the loss of his father.
01:11There's plenty of times where I didn't think I was going to get through it
01:15and having the old man upstairs with me the whole way,
01:22I mean I love him, right, he's done so much for me.
01:25He raised more than $80,000 for charity.
01:28He won't run the world again, but he'll be back running tomorrow.
