00:00You are watching the 2024 NBA draft presented by State Farm.
00:19Melvin Ajinka was just selected by the Knicks, but this pick is now on its way to the Dallas
00:25Mavericks.
00:26That was it.
00:27That's right.
00:29That was the audio that we're going to use forever and that we'll forever have for the
00:34newest Dallas Maverick, Melvin Ajinka.
00:38So yes, welcome to small forward out of, and I've already forgotten.
00:44France.
00:45That's right.
00:46Because apparently France is dominating the NBA draft.
00:48I'm going to try to pronounce the school club he was playing.
00:51St. Quentin basketball.
00:52There you go.
00:536'8", 218 pounds.
00:54I have him at 6'7".
00:57I've seen him at 6'6", as well.
00:59I'm on NBA.com right now.
01:01Okay.
01:02So that's the official.
01:03All right.
01:04We're going to go with that.
01:056'8".
01:06220 is what you said?
01:07218.
01:08218.
01:09And so small forward born in 2004.
01:10If that makes you feel old at all, Alex Jensa averaged 10, 10 points, three rebounds and
01:16a half a steal per game in his last situation in France.
01:21The breakdown that I have of him as a player, he has a robust physique, as you can tell,
01:26220 pounds.
01:27Ability to operate as a left-handed wing.
01:29So a lefty for whatever that's worth.
01:31Streaky, three-point shooting ability, consistent high energy on the court.
01:36Energy definitely, that jumped out to me when I saw that.
01:38Versatility, playing across various positions based on matchup requirements, which basically
01:42feels like he's kind of just a wing.
01:44Maybe he can get down, club down a little bit to maybe kind of a guard, depending.
01:50Strong handle, confidence in taking shots, exhibiting significant shot creation potential.
01:56Sells in straight line drives, transition attacks, cuts, ambidextrous scoring ability.
02:02So both going both left and right, solid defender with potential for improvement.
02:07And he shows ability to drain threes off of screens and handoffs.
02:10So like kind of that, all of this, you have to remember though, when you have a second
02:14round player in the NBA, it's a project usually, or it's a guy who does not have a high ceiling.
02:19So you hear all these things about, he's a streaky shooter, but he has the potential.
02:23Defensive potential, right?
02:24Has the opportunity.
02:25Because if these guys are proven commodities, they'd go top 10 in the draft.
02:28They would go absolutely.
02:29Lottery pick, maybe even later in the first round.
02:31So you have this back end of the first round guy, and that's all his strengths.
02:34You can talk about the weaknesses where not a lot of experience running pick and roll,
02:38which that one should definitely perk your ears up because the Mavericks do a lot of
02:41pick and roll, limited off ball contributions as of right now.
02:47We talk about the, I guess the idea that maybe he can maybe make some plays at some point
02:52in the future.
02:54As of right now, his assisted turnover, your ratio has not been great.
02:57Fouls a decent amount.
02:58So this is a guy that don't expect to see him impact the Mavericks next year.
03:03But the idea is this is a guy who's a project who the upside seems to be big on.
03:08So Melvin Agenza out of France drafted at 51 for your Mavericks.
03:14Technically he gets drafted.
