00:00I think it's really important to say that obviously football does not cause domestic
00:04abuse and alcohol does not cause domestic abuse, but where there is already abuse and
00:09coercive and controlling and aggressive behaviours within a relationship and within a family,
00:15we know that this becomes more frequent and more severe during or after the big games.
00:22No More Injury Time is a campaign created by multiple charities including Solace and
00:26the National Centre for Domestic Violence, wherein an alternative England kit has been
00:31created to symbolise the phrase that, quote, when we lose, she loses more. Solace Charities'
00:37CEO Nahar Choudhury said women experience domestic abuse all year round, but with heightened
00:43tensions and disappointments, many abusers will take out their frustrations on their
00:47partner. If you're concerned about somebody you know
00:51about a loved one, how do you best support them? What do you do? And that can be really
00:56challenging and often it's family and friends who are the person that somebody might go
01:00to first and might talk to. We want to raise awareness with health professionals. Often
01:07it might be a GP somebody talks to. And we want to raise awareness as well with men out
01:14there. There's some really good men who might just be really worried about their behaviour.
01:18There's lots of pressures. We want to provide a really unjudgmental service, but we want
01:22men to get in touch if they feel, you know what, I might be behaving in a way that isn't
01:28good for my family, isn't good for my partner, and certainly is not good for my children,
01:33but I don't know how to stop it. We can provide that support, advice, guidance, judgment and
01:39really look at behaviour change with men as well. So I think it has to be a really holistic
01:44look at the whole family, look at the wider community and look at our political and social
01:49structures to try and change this. But I think, I mean, at Wynn we're really conscious
01:55of trying to just raise awareness across the communities. You know, we work in Sunderland
02:01and across Wearside. And what we're really, we do, we have a support service for women.
02:09So if women are fearful, if they're survivors of domestic abuse and they're fearful at this
02:14time or experiencing domestic abuse, they can get in touch. We also provide support.
02:19And I think this is really important for family and friends or anyone, if you're concerned
02:24about somebody, you know, about a loved one. For Sunderland, if you get in touch with Wynn,
02:29it's www.win.org.uk or call us on 01914163550. And then whoever you are, whether you're someone
02:39experiencing it yourself, whether you're a child, young person, whether you're family
02:43or friends, whether you're a man worried about your behaviour, we'll make sure you
02:46get the support you need. And in Newcastle, the support service is an organisation called
02:53Changing Lives. But if you just Google domestic abuse in your area, you will be put through
02:57to the right support.
