00:00The government has been urged to release the sales and purchase agreement on the plot of
00:06land at the centre of a controversial plan to relocate a Hindu temple.
00:11Lawyers Ambiga Srinivasan and N. Surindran said it was public knowledge that the land
00:16on which the Devi Sri Patrakaliamman Temple stands was sold by Kuala Lumpur City Hall
00:22to jackal trading Sundaram Berhad.
00:25They said making the agreement publicly available might substantially assist towards achieving
00:30a resolution of the current situation.
00:33On Thursday, jackal trading's legal head Aiman Dazuki said the company had acquired
00:39the land in 2012 and received permission in 2021 to begin constructing a mosque there
00:45but delayed the process out of respect for the temple.
00:49He also said it was not possible to build the mosque without relocating the temple as
00:54the land was not large enough.
00:57Batu MPP Prabhakaran previously said the temple was relocated to its current site in
01:022008 at the request of the government.
