00:00The Department of Migrant Workers forbids Philippine seafarers from ships sailing in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden
00:09after being attacked by Houthi rebels aboard the MV Transworld Navigator.
00:14Noel Talakay has the details.
00:19We therefore will no longer process or allow the boarding of seafarers on board these three principals or ship owners
00:27who have been the subject of an attack.
00:29This was announced by Migrant Workers Secretary Kakdak
00:34in accordance with the agency's latest move to allow Philippine seafarers to sail in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
00:43Philippine seafarers who are boarded by Galaxy Leader, True Confidence, and MV Tutor
00:52who often pass through the aforementioned seas are not allowed to sail.
00:56We will take action with respect to the principals or ship owners
01:00who have been involved in at least the three major attacks.
01:05Galaxy Leader, True Confidence, and Tutor.
01:11Aside from this, the DMW has also coordinated with the Armed Forces of the Philippines,
01:17Philippine Coast Guard, the Navy, and the Department of Foreign Affairs
01:22for the proper maritime security.
01:24And for the seafarers who are currently in the middle of the sea,
01:28their ship owners must submit a Threat and Risk Assessment to the DMW
01:37which will be reviewed by the AFP, PCG, Marina, and BFA
01:43if they will allow them to sail in high-risk and war-like areas.
01:48We will have proper coordination with the security experts
01:53in terms of helping us out in assessing these Threat and Risk Assessments.
02:18We continue to hold and are still in direct communication with the family.
02:49And with this, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
