A six-month pregnant woman was sentenced to two months in jail by the Bandar Baru Bangi Sessions Court on Monday (June 24) for soliciting clients for prostitution via the Telegram app under the pseudonym ‘Miza Ozawa’.

00:06Court on Monday for soliciting clients for prostitution via telegram under the pseudonym
00:12Miza Ozawa.
00:14Twenty-seven-year-old Siti Amiza Baharuddin had pleaded guilty to committing the offence
00:19last week.
00:21Judge Shahrul Rizal Majid ordered the accused to serve the jail sentence from the date of
00:27her arrest, which was June 6.
00:30In her appeal, Siti Amiza asked to be fined instead of being incarcerated given her condition
00:36and that she regretted her past actions.
00:39She also promised not to repeat the offence and wanted to start a new life with her child
00:44by opening a restaurant in KL.
00:47However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Noorul Afiqa Abdul Ghaffar asked for a deterrent sentence
00:53due to public interest and nature of the offence.
00:57Before handing down the sentence, Judge Shahrul Rizal advised the accused to stay with her
01:01family in her hometown in Penang if she really wanted to look after the baby.
01:07On June 19, Siti Amiza was sentenced to one month in prison and fined 12,500 ringgit by
01:14the same court after pleading guilty to two charges of possessing obscene materials and
01:20unregistered medicine.
01:22The court ordered both sentences run consecutively from the date she was arrested on June 6.
