00:00Well, look, any fall in inflation is welcome, but unlike the Conservatives, I'm not going
00:05to stand here and say, oh, everything's fine.
00:08You know, the Conservatives are wrong to say that people should be grateful and that everything's
00:13fine and there's nothing to worry about, because the truth is, after 14 years of the Conservatives,
00:18people are worse off.
00:19Prices in the shops have still gone up, mortgage payments have still gone up, taxes are a 70-year
00:24high.
00:25And I think the choice that people will be thinking about going into the election is,
00:28what do I want for the next five years?
00:30Do I want five more years of chaos with the Conservatives, or do I want economic growth
00:34with the Labour Party that will make people across Britain better off?
00:37During the Conservatives' time in office, we were far worse hit than many other countries
00:41by the global shocks that we faced, like the energy price crisis.
00:46We also had a domestic crisis manufactured by Liz Truss, who set the economy on fire
00:52during her tenure in office, and people are still paying the price now of what Liz Truss
00:56did to the economy while she was Prime Minister.
00:59And what's really worrying is that senior Conservative politicians going into this election,
01:04far from distancing themselves from Liz Truss's record in office, seem to be defending it
01:09and, in fact, copying some of her approach in their manifesto commitments with unfunded
01:14pledges that they haven't set out how they're going to pay for.
01:17And I think people can't risk another five years of chaos with the Conservatives, of
01:21people being worse off.
01:23A vote for Labour is one to get the economy growing and make people better off.
01:26Look, we know that the tax burden is already the highest in 70 years.
01:30We want taxes to be lower, and that's why we're going into the election with an ironcast
01:35commitment to not raise national insurance, income tax and VAT.
01:41But we also know that the way to bring taxes down responsibly for working people is to
01:45get the economy growing, and that's why economic growth is so central to what we're putting
01:49to the electorate ahead of the election.
