Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp says that the government "let down our ally", the US, by originally refusing permission for it to use RAF bases for the war in Iran. Yesterday US President Donald Trump accused Sir Keir Starmer of seeking to "join wars after we've already won".

00:05by refusing permission to use British military bases when they needed them.
00:10They've also been asleep at the wheel by failing to move British warships into the region
00:15when they knew weeks ago this conflict was coming because the Americans had asked to use our air bases.
00:21They could have moved HMS Dragon, the missile destroyer, into the region weeks ago.
00:26They could have moved the aircraft carrier, Prince of Wales, as well.
00:29They failed to do that. That's left Cyprus undefended, and it's also left the Gulf undefended as well.
