00:00Clayton Kershaw is available in what? Maybe 40% of leagues, 43% of leagues. What can one
00:11get from Clayton Kershaw to help their team in a season long scenario?
00:16Look, I just think it's worth adding pitching depth. And I was kind of shocked to see the
00:21roster percentage here. We're at 57% for Clayton Kershaw, which is at this point, surprising
00:28because there's been a lot of buzz about him coming back. I thought this number would
00:31have been closer to 70 something, but it's not, which means in almost 50% of leagues,
00:35almost half your leagues, this guy's floating around the waiver wire. The problem is not
00:38every league has a lot of IL spots. And if you're playing in a shallow league, do you
00:41want to use them on Clayton Kershaw? That's fair. You got to look at the timetable of
00:46Clayton Kershaw. So if he is working right now, throwing bullpens, trying to go through
00:51simulated games, all that stuff, it's the 16th of June, right? You're probably not going
00:56to have him come back before the all-star break, but there's a good chance that directly
01:00after he is in that rotation, if you're looking at how somebody would ramp up over the next,
01:06what, potentially five weeks or so, that seems to be exactly where you'd be looking at Clayton
01:11Kershaw, which is what we've been kind of told to end of July. That seems about right
01:15for him. And then being there to make the rest of that run. Kershaw is an interesting
01:19guy on the roster for a few reasons. Number one, he's a Dodger, right? So we already know
01:23like when potential is there. Number two, he's Clayton Kershaw. He does have a pretty
01:28good track record being one of the great pitchers we've seen in baseball. Now he's not the same
01:31guy that was a few years ago. We don't know what he's going to look like now. And it's
01:34going to be interesting to see how these rehab starts eventually do go. But there's also
01:38a third option here, which is Clayton Kershaw also is a name and having names like Clayton
01:43Kershaw on your roster who are working their way back from injury and it's all good and
01:46potential and everything looks great and grand. They have value in the trade market potentially
01:52too. So there's a lot of value to having Clayton Kershaw on your roster for a myriad
01:57of reasons. And I think when you're looking at Kershaw right now being available in so
02:00many, I think it's a mistake that's being made and people just probably don't even realize
02:04that he's out there, but we're letting you know, we're sounding the alarms. He's out
02:07there go at him because for all those reasons, he has value either on your roster for the
02:12rest of the season, potentially, or in a potential trade on somebody else's roster to give you
02:18back talent that you might find a little bit more exciting for the rest of the season.
02:21So Kershaw is definitely going to have for me this week.
02:24I really love what you said about value because a lot of people overlook that simply having
02:30the name in a trade package is going to make a manager raise a brow. Look, my wife has
02:35an entire closet of unopened shoes, jewelry, and clothes. And I say to her all the time,
02:41you never wear it. And she says to me, it's value. There's value in it. Joe, you're a
02:46hundred percent right. People are going to see the name brand. They're going to see Tiffany,
02:50Louis Vuitton, and they're going to say, oh man, I'm going to jump at that. You're
02:54going to see Clayton Kershaw. What's he going to give you? Five innings? Six strikeouts?
02:58I mean, what can you truly expect from Clayton Kershaw? You have to know that going in, but
03:03his value is important, Joe. Great point.
