00:00A first really big day in the mountains at the Giro Next Generation and a super category

00:11climb at the end of 134 kilometres of rolling terrain. Stage 3 of the Giro Next Gen runs

00:18from Vérez to Piana de la Musa. A first day in pink and a first ever day leading a general

00:26classification for the new pink jersey Paul Magna. But with a 19 kilometre climb at the

00:32end of today's stage this would be a big test for him and a big opportunity for the GC men

00:38to make their mark at this race. A long day out, plenty of climbing then and a muted start

00:44to the attacks before eventually a four rider breakaway got up the road including three

00:50Italian riders and already another Italian, Raccagni Noviero, was in trouble on the first

00:57of the categorised climbs. Two riders then going solo building up an advantage of a very

01:03slender 27 seconds with 30 kilometres to go. This was a second categorised climb of the

01:10day and an opportunity for Giacomoni to take the second categorised climb of Sant'Ignalio

01:17as the pink jersey Paul Magna was in trouble on this categorised climb a long way from

01:22the final climb of the day. Giacomoni then over the top of the second categorised climb

01:28alone but his gap was erased as they started to ride hard behind. Lotto Destiny riding

01:37in the belief that Jarno Wida, their young hope, the 18 year old, could do something

01:41spectacular on the final climb to come. A 19 kilometre climb and an average gradient

01:47of 5.3% but some steep slopes as the attacks towards the foot of the climb started to come

01:53instantly. Lotto Destiny already trying to soften up the race. Will Smith from Trinity

01:58Racing lurking towards the front but it was the great friend of Wida, Milan Doni, who

02:04attacked first and took with him Tiemengraat and Alessandro Pinarello, those three riders

02:11riding a small advantage off the front, just 12 seconds as they headed to the intermediate

02:16sprint of the day and Graz just about got there ahead of Lotto Destiny's Doni. Then

02:23it was Trinity Racing's Will Smith, the young British rider who attacked, waited off the

02:27front for quite some time before he was pegged back and the blue jersey, the King of the

02:31Mountains leader Fabian Weiss of Tudor Pro Cycling falling victim to the pace that was

02:35being set by his teammates. Still Will Smith had a slight advantage but that was the moment

02:45when Wida opened up his first acceleration. His repeated attacks, his explosive dynamic

02:51style of riding eventually prizing a group of three or four riders clear. In the end

02:57it was only Matisse Rondel and Wouter Toussaint who were able to live at all with the pace

03:02of the white jersey wearer, the best young rider. A group of four riders tried to get

03:06across to the front of the race but those three were never going to be seen again and

03:10inside the final two kilometres it felt like a matter of when and not if Wida was going

03:17to launch his attack. He waited until the final kilometre and then cracked it up one

03:20glance behind and he noted that Wouter Toussaint was unable to follow the explosive pace of

03:26this dynamic rider. Fresh from his victory at the Alpe d'Isère stage race, a real talent

03:32and full of confidence. A former Belgian junior road race champion and a real talent. An emphatic

03:40victory, almost every other one of his opponents virtually out of sight as he took the win

03:45on stage three by such a margin that he would swap at the end of the day the white jersey

03:50for the Maglia Rosa. An extraordinary win, one of the biggest in this developing young

03:54rider's career to date. Celebrated in style by Jarno Wida, the pre-race favourite living

04:00up to his billing ahead of Wouter Toussaint and Mathis Rondel in second and third. Taking

04:05the jersey as well and with a comfortable margin to defend of 34 seconds over Rondel.

04:10Pablo Torres is in third. Paul Magnier hangs on to the lead of the points competition,

04:1638 points to Jarno Wida's 27. And the blue jersey as well, the king of the mountains

04:22jersey goes the way of Lotto Destiny. Jarno Wida taking over the lead in that classification

04:26from Toussaint in second place and of course extending his advantage as the best young

04:31rider now, 47 seconds ahead of Pablo Torres in second. And a change as well of the best

04:37Italian rider as Florian Cagemini takes over.
