00:00 Stage two of the Giro Next Gen, a short, sharp trip up and down the Aosta Valley with a few

00:12 climbs en route, but an opportunity potentially for the first bunch sprint of the race.

00:19 Bright sunshine, Gil Gliva, the hopes of UAE Team Emirates, Paul Magnier of Sudal, quick

00:25 step in the blue jersey and in the pink jersey, Jakob Söderqvist, hoping to hold on to his

00:31 race lead at the end of the day.

00:35 Not many kilometres then, the pace should be high, Paul Magnier full of ambition, the

00:39 flag dropping promptly at kilometre zero and no immediate attacks at first.

00:45 Before that is, two riders got up the road, including Gianmarco Carpini and Dario Giuliano,

00:49 a French rider just 19 years of age from the Polti Cometa Under 23 team.

00:56 And Tomasche then take it up as they hit the slopes of the Crete de Ville, the first climb

01:02 of the day.

01:03 The attacks coming thick and fast, but Gianmarco Carpini, the 20 year old rider from that original

01:09 breakaway managing to get to the top of the first climb, the Crete de Ville climb in first

01:14 place.

01:16 Then sitting up as the attacks continue over the top of the climb and onto the descent,

01:20 and Tomasche forcing a group of six riders clear, including two from Trinity Racing and

01:26 Tim Thornton-Tuytenberg of Lidl Trek, as well as the blue jersey of Paul Magnier.

01:34 As those riders did battle with one another, a second chase group got itself organised

01:39 behind, featuring the red jersey of Fabien Weiss of Tudor Pro Cycling.

01:45 These four riders didn't get across to the front of the race as the pink jersey group

01:48 was held at one minute and 21 seconds from the six riders at the front of the race being

01:53 driven on by Paul Magnier of Soudal Quick-Step.

01:56 Can they make this one stick?

01:57 An attack coming off the front by Christian Bagatin, who eventually then was reeled back

02:05 in.

02:06 And that six rider group in turn was hauled back in by the peloton.

02:13 Combination of different teams then starting to work on the front, including Lotto Destiny

02:16 looking after the best young rider, Jano Wida.

02:21 The remains of that original breakaway being swept up by the pink jersey group as MBH Bank

02:26 Kolpak Balan take it up, heading towards the final categorised climb of the day, setting

02:32 a high pace onto the lower slopes of that climb.

02:37 And then right towards the top, Cesare Cezini of Zalfora Mobil sprinting for the maximum

02:43 points and taking the win over the top of the last categorised climb of stage two onto

02:48 the descent.

02:49 A fast, rapid affair.

02:52 Vismalisa Bike taking it up and that put Serek Vist, the race leader, briefly into difficulty

02:58 off the back.

03:01 As into the final kilometres, Bardiani take it up, hoping to lead out Lorenzo Conforti,

03:07 their sprinter.

03:08 Conforti then sitting on the wheel of the Soudal Quick-Step lead out train for Paul

03:14 Magnier.

03:15 Magnier on the wheel of the Italian in the same instance.

03:18 And Magnier opening up his sprint, reacting to Conforti's sprint and having the power

03:23 in the last 50 metres or so, ran that sweeping left-hand turn on the cobblestones to take

03:28 the victory by a bike length in the end.

03:31 Another brilliant demonstration of power, taking the time bonuses as well from the young

03:36 Frenchman who is having a brilliant 2024.

03:40 That is win number four of this year for Paul Magnier, who is going to be hard to beat on

03:45 these sprints.

03:46 A short, sharp effort, Magnier finishing it off in style.

03:55 So stage two, the Champagne going to Paul Magnier of Soudal Quick-Step ahead of Conforti

04:00 in second place and Gael Gliwa in third from UEE Team Emirates.

04:04 And with that comes the new Magliarosa of the Giro Next Gen.

04:08 He leads now by seven seconds to Andrea Racagni-Noviero.

04:13 He takes over in the lead of the points competition too.

04:17 Twenty points is advantage over Lorenzo Conforti.

04:20 Fabian Weiss now moves into control of the King of the Mountains competition by two points

04:25 to Jakob Söderqvist.

04:27 The white jersey still being held by Jarno Wieder of Lotto Destiny.

04:35 And the best Italian is still Andrea Racagni-Noviero, who leads that classification ahead of Alessandro

04:41 Pinarello.
