00:00Charlie, West Bromwich Albion obviously, you know, involved in this fantastic play-off
00:05situation come the end of the season. Now, Carlos Corberán, as we've mentioned before,
00:10has made it to a play-off final. West Brom travelled to Southampton with a goal of short
00:15at the Hawthorns. Firstly, on that first leg, how did you see things going? It was, you
00:20know, fantastic performances from both goalkeepers on the day. How do you sort of go about, you
00:27know, leaving that home leg? You know, obviously, you've not lost the game, which is a positive,
00:31but you've also, you know, left the front gate sort of open for a big night at St Mary's.
00:36Those saves from Alex Palmer and Alex McCarthy, keeping out efforts from Grady Deangarner
00:41in particular, Flynn Downs, I think a big opportunity for Southampton as well. It could
00:45have definitely been a score draw on a different day, but nil-nil it was. I think West Brom
00:50can take confidence from that because they'd lost to Southampton in the two matches earlier
00:54in the season. 2-1 away at St Mary's, 2-0 at the Hawthorns. Russell Martin quite often
00:59getting the better of Carlos Corbijn, but on this occasion, that wasn't the case. Martin
01:04actually blames the hot weather for the reason Southampton weren't quite at it, which I think
01:09was a little bit bizarre considering it's not exactly... West Brom weren't away from
01:14those conditions themselves. They also had to deal with the heat. Both teams had the
01:18exact same circumstances, so I thought it was a bit of a weird moan in the press conference.
01:22I think West Brom probably slightly happier with the two teams. In fact, they're still
01:26very much in this after what Southampton did to them earlier in the season at the Hawthorns.
01:30It might sound weird to say that, that West Brom are happy with the draw in their home
01:35leg, but just having that goalless draw going into the second leg, I think is so important
01:39for the underdogs of the tie. Had Southampton won that, well, they'd be in such a strong
01:43position, wouldn't they, to hold on at St Mary's, but both teams have to go for it.
01:47I think that will suit West Brom.
01:49How much of an impact did the fans have at the Hawthorns? Obviously, they know how to
01:54get up for a big game and they've had a few good play-off runs in the past. They really
01:59relished these occasions. Did anything surprise you at the Hawthorns in terms of how much
02:05backing the Corbyron side had from the home support?
02:08There was always a decent support at the Hawthorns. They call it the shrine for a reason. It's
02:13probably the best atmosphere I've seen there, to be fair to them. Before the game as well,
02:17hundreds of fans waiting for the bus to arrive. Corbyron wasn't expecting that. At the press
02:22conference he said it was very emotional to see so many fans there. Then the atmosphere
02:25for the game itself, 99 minutes there were in total, including added time, and I don't
02:30think there was any of those minutes where the ground was quiet. Very impressive indeed,
02:34especially at the beginning. Corbyron said it was the best atmosphere he's ever experienced.
02:39Considering he's been to play-off final, he's been to matches in Greece, which is, as Aston
02:44Villa saw this season, a very loud place to go. I think that's quite an impressive
02:48comment from him, and he definitely meant it. We asked him, do you seriously mean that?
02:51And he said yes. So West Brom, very important atmosphere and got an important result against
02:56Southampton.
