00:00 A question over whether Indian voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu have played a kingmaker role in
00:06 deciding their new assemblyman will be answered tonight when the by-election results are announced.
00:13 The Indian community, making up about 18% of the electorate, can make the difference
00:17 in the mixed seat, which is evenly split between Malay and non-Malay voters.
00:23 As of Friday night, however, the community appeared to be undecided based on checks by
00:28 FMT.
00:29 An Indian community leader who did not wish to be named said Indian voters appeared to
00:34 be divided between voting for PN or not casting the ballots at all.
00:39 This indecisiveness, he said, was due to the tough time the community experienced with
00:44 the constituency office of the late three-term DAP Assembly Member Lee Kee Heong as it took
00:50 forever to resolve issues affecting the Indian community.
00:54 However, he said the Indian community had little confidence that PN could represent
01:00 their interests, which is why there could be a group of Indians who may abstain from
01:04 voting.
01:05 Meanwhile, a DAP assemblyman who requested anonymity said he is confident the Indian
01:11 community will change their minds, despite the initial pushback towards PH.
01:17 A division leader of the Indian Progressive Front said the majority of Indians were more
01:21 likely to back the unity government, claiming that Huluselangor MP Hasnizan Harun of PN
01:27 barely did anything for his constituents.
