00:00Former UMNO MP Taufik Ismail urged Muda not to align with race-based parties in the opposition
00:06bloc, warning it could compromise nation-building.
00:09He said Muda risks losing its ideals by staying in the loose coalition announced by Bersatu
00:13President Muhyiddin Yassin, which Party Socialist Malaysia refused to join due to ethnic-based
00:19rhetoric.
00:20Taufik added that the coalition appears race-based, united only by the goal of toppling Prime
00:25Minister Anwar Ibrahim, making it more personal than principled.
00:29He noted that race-based parties had a role during independence against the British, but
00:33now Malaysia should focus on nation-building, integration, and non-racial politics.
00:38Taufik urged the opposition to rise above identity politics and focus on issues rather than government
00:44personalities.
00:45On Monday, it was reported that 11 opposition parties had agreed to form a loose coalition
00:50aimed at holding the government accountable and pressing Anwar on what they claimed were
00:54unfulfilled reform pledges.
00:56However, Penang Muda Information Chief Daniel Abdul Majid clarified the coalition is not a
01:02formal alliance, but a platform to serve the people, stressing Muda will still voice concerns
01:07and uphold its principles.
