00:00 We know that Jake and Callum Robinson were on a surfing trip in Baja California, which
00:07 is a state in northern Mexico just below the US border.
00:11 It's understood they were travelling with a third man who is understood to be an American
00:15 citizen.
00:16 And the trio had been camping at a very popular surfing spot and they were planning to drive
00:20 to the coastal city of Rosarito where they had some accommodation booked, but they never
00:24 made it to the accommodation.
00:26 They didn't check in.
00:27 And the last time the brothers were in touch with their family was on Saturday.
00:31 It's also understood that Callum, one of the brothers who actually lives in the US and
00:34 was holidaying in Mexico, had missed some work.
00:38 So all of that was enough for their family to raise the alarm and their mother, Deborah
00:42 Robinson, has told the ABC that it's obviously a very deeply distressing time for the family,
00:47 but that they continue to hope that the brothers will be found.
00:51 Now the Premier, Roger Cook, has been briefed on this situation, this developing situation,
00:56 and here's what he had to say.
00:58 This is obviously, must be very worrying for the families involved.
01:02 When we do send our young men and women overseas to enjoy that adventure holiday, they invite
01:09 an element of risk.
01:11 And this is really quite distressing.
01:13 I understand that one of the individuals has a medical condition that would need ongoing
01:19 care.
01:20 So I share concerns of all Western Australians in terms of their welfare.
01:25 And Lucy, what happens from here with the search?
01:28 Well Joe, we're yet to hear formally from the police in Mexico regarding what they're
01:32 doing to search for these three men.
01:35 We're also waiting to hear from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade here in Australia,
01:40 which would be assisting the families.
01:41 That would be their role.
01:43 What we do know though is that the men's family and friends have been posting on social media
01:48 in a bid to appeal for information and to spread the word.
01:52 Currently it seems that the Baja California surfing community is quite vibrant, quite
01:55 well connected.
01:56 We're seeing a lot of sharing of those posts on social media.
02:01 You may have heard the Premier just now refer to a medical condition.
02:04 That's because Callum, one of these Perth brothers, has type 1 diabetes that he needs
02:09 medication to control, which obviously as you can imagine, adds a new layer of urgency
02:14 to this developing search.
