00:00 Is Taylor Swift sending a not-so-subtle message to Kim Kardashian on her new album?
00:07 Fans are convinced.
00:09 The music superstar broke the internet on April 19th
00:13 with the anticipated release of The Tortured Poets Department,
00:16 even dropping 15 surprise tracks just hours later.
00:20 At least one song on the double LP caught Swifties' immediate attention
00:24 for appearing to contain a thinly-veiled message for the reality star.
00:29 On "Thank U, Amy," the title of which notably spells "Kim" in capital letters,
00:34 Taylor sings about a metaphorical school bully
00:37 who ultimately empowered her to reach the current fulfillment she has in her life
00:41 with lyrics that include the lines,
00:43 "All that time you were throwing punches, I was building something.
00:47 And I can't forgive the way you made me feel,"
00:49 screamed "F U, Amy" to the night sky as the blood was gushing,
00:53 "but I can't forget the way you made me heal."
00:56 Taylor and Kim's infamous feud first ignited back in 2016
01:00 after the Skims founder released clips of a phone call
01:03 between the singer and Kim's then-husband, Kanye West,
01:06 which appeared to confirm at the time
01:08 that Taylor had approved the rapper's controversial lyrics about her in his song "Famous,"
01:13 which she'd consistently denied.
01:15 Taylor was widely branded a "snake" across social media
01:18 until the full phone call was leaked
01:20 and corroborated Taylor's version of events after all.
01:24 The saga ultimately inspired her 2017 "Reputation" album,
01:29 and the pop princess reflected on the matter
01:31 in her Time Person of the Year interview in late 2023,
01:35 opening up about how she'd hit an emotional bottom amid the initial backlash, saying,
01:40 "Make no mistake, my career was taken away from me.
01:43 That took me down psychologically to a place I've never been before.
01:47 I moved to a foreign country. I didn't leave a rental house for a year.
01:51 I had to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life
01:54 because I didn't trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard."
01:59 Kim did not respond publicly to Taylor's Time remarks
02:02 and has yet to comment on the tortured poet's department as of its release day.
02:06 In a past episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians,"
02:09 Kim's mom Kris Jenner encouraged her to reach out to Taylor personally to hash things out.
02:14 What would happen if you just called Taylor up
02:19 and just say, "What happened? How did this go so south?"
02:24 This is what I don't understand, because truly, I really do like her,
02:29 and I really like her team, and I really like her mom.
02:33 I guess I don't understand the motivation to flip so quickly.
02:40 Me either.
02:41 My advice is that you give Taylor a call and try to make amends.
02:46 Thank you for your lovely advice, but I'm not going to take it.
02:52 And in a "Watch What Happens Live" appearance in 2019,
02:55 the mogul said she believed the drama with Taylor was behind her.
02:59 Kim, you and Taylor Swift, still a beef with Taylor after all that went down?
03:04 No, squash. Over it.
03:05 Over it. Good. And have you two had any communication,
03:08 or you just feel like we've all moved on?
03:10 No, I feel like we've all moved on.
03:12 But as far as Swifties are concerned,
03:14 the "Tortured Poets" department indicates that the bad blood hasn't gone anywhere.
