00:00 Russia has seen a significant jump in the number of people joining the armed forces
00:05 since the March 22 massacre at the Krokus City Hall concert venue in Krasnogorsk.
00:11 Russian Defense Ministry said more than 100,000 people had signed up with the military since
00:16 January this year.
00:18 They said about 16,000 of them joined the army over the past 10 days.
00:23 Many applicants said they wished to defend the country and prevent such massacres from
00:27 happening again.
00:28 "After the terrible events in Moscow, I don't want to stay aside.
00:34 I don't want such a tragedy to happen in my native city."
00:39 "Now, we need to stand up and sign a contract to defend our country.
00:46 Otherwise, it will come to us."
00:48 During the incident, four gunmen stormed the concert hall and carried out a mass shooting
00:52 at the audiences who were watching the performance by Russian band Piknik.
00:58 At least 144 people were killed in an attack that was claimed by Islamic State militants.
01:04 Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday said in a meeting with interior ministry officials
01:09 that they will find out who ordered the attack.
01:12 "Now, you and colleagues from other departments are participating in the investigation of
01:16 the March 22 massacre.
01:20 As I said, we need to find out not only the perpetrators but also all links, chains, and
01:29 end-criminal beneficiaries of this crime.
01:33 We will certainly find them.
01:35 It is unacceptable, I want to emphasize, to use recent tragic events to provoke national
01:42 revolt, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and so on."
01:46 Russia has said it has evidence that the attackers had links to Ukraine, the United States and
01:51 Britain which they denied.
