A 47-year-old former finance assistant collapsed in the dock at the Penang Sessions Court on Wednesday (March 11) after pleading guilty to four charges of criminal breach of trust totalling RM677,629.

Lee Lay Peng, who worked at Bold Integrated Services Sdn Bhd, allegedly misappropriated company funds between 2017 and 2020.

00:01A former finance assistant broke down in court Wednesday after pleading guilty to embezzling
00:06company funds totaling nearly 700,000 ringgit. Sina Harian reported that 47-year-old Lee Le Peng
00:12had to be helped out of the dock by two police officers after her guilty plea was entered before
00:17Judge Juraida Abbas. She faces four charges in total for criminal breach of trust against her
00:22former employer, bold Integrated Services Sendirian Berhad, where she worked as a finance assistant.
00:27In the first courtroom, Lee pleaded guilty to one charge of misappropriating company funds
00:32amounting to over 219,000 ringgit, allegedly committed between January and April of 2020
00:38at the company's premises in Jelutong. The court set bail at 8,000 ringgit with one surety.
00:43The case returns on the 22nd of April for document submission and appointment of counsel.
00:48In a second courtroom, Lee also pleaded guilty to three more charges, this time involving the
00:53misappropriation of over 457,000 ringgit from the same company spanning a longer period,
00:59from June 2017 to December 2019. All four charges fall under Section 408 of the Penal Code,
01:06which carries a minimum of one year in prison, up to a maximum of 14 years, along with caning and

01:12fine. Appearing without legal representation, Lee appealed for reduced bail, telling the court
01:17she is a single mother, supporting two school-going children aged 17 and 18. She also informed the
01:23court that she is in the process of settling the matter out of court with the company, including
01:28repaying the money she took. The court maintained bail at 30,000 ringgit for all three charges in the
01:33second courtroom. Sentencing and case facts for those charges have been fixed for the 14th of April.
