With M&S and Boots announcing multiple closures and over 1,000 jobs at risk at Ted Baker, the high street is in a state of decline. We ask Glaswegians on what they believe needs to be done to save it.

00:00 Which losses to our high street have you missed the most and what needs to be done to save our high street?
00:05 The high street is falling just because less people are going in person and getting things online or travelling elsewhere.
00:11 But I think what's important is probably just local business and things like that.
00:14 I'm indifferent to it personally, so shops really. I've never really enjoyed the act of shopping I suppose.
00:21 I think one of the things about our high streets is we need to re-evaluate their use.
00:27 I think big corporations taking over all these lovely buildings, it's handy having things cheaply,
00:35 but I think it would be more, it would be better for the community if there was more local businesses there.
00:39 But it's a big ask though because there's a lot of money involved.
00:41 If you look around Glasgow city centre, there's lots of places that are closed down,
00:47 but actually most of Glasgow city centre was built as residential and our shopping habits have changed.
00:54 Maybe we need to start shrinking our high streets and looking more at residential.
