A hot jazz band accompanies the vocalist here. Could this be the California Ramblers?
I tried to figure out lyrics for most of the song. If I had the sheet music, I would have caught more words.
I've heard different lyrics sung to this, but this version may be viewed as "most authenic" since the man who worte the lyrics is the singer here.
"Sweet Henry (The Pride of Tennessee)"
Benny Davis
Emerson 10662
1923
Harry Akst wrote the music, and Benny Davis wrote the words.
Oh me, oh my, how they did fall.
They call him Sweet Henry,
Neat Henry--some Romeo.
He's the greatest lover yet,
and he's dog-gone hard to get.
They love him. Sweet kissing--they listen.
Here's what I know--he's got the gal so dizzy...
Sweet Henry, Dapper Dan, Lovin' Sam--grab
those high brown maids. Ah, but take my word
this here bird can give them cause and pain.
He's clever. He never lacks no company.
They envy Sweet Henry.
He's the pride of Tennessee.
