Women in contact sports share their experience with bras

Finding the right sports bra can be a challenge for many women - especially elite athletes – and having a good fit can make a huge difference. These women in contact sports speak on their experience with bras and protection.

00:00 I always loved getting a particular sports bra sometimes, but I don't know too much about

00:05 it to be honest.

00:06 It's something that I would love to learn about a bit more in the women's game as it

00:11 is such a contact sport and we are getting hit around that area.

00:17 I think with the education we can get would be amazing.

00:20 I usually try to find a comfortable and tight bra so I'm not in discomfort worrying about

00:28 my bra falling down underneath my jersey.

00:31 I find it really funny because all us girls we like sometimes tend to help each other

00:36 out and give each other options on which ones are more supportive and some that aren't as

00:42 tight.

00:43 Obviously the number one thing is support.

00:46 I mean across the board in Rugby 7s we've got all different sorts of body shapes and

00:51 body types.

00:52 So number one being support so that we are minimising any type of postural or thoracic

00:58 tightness which can then transfer into other tightness and potential injury.

01:03 And then bringing in a little bit around protection as well.

01:07 Breast health is something I think that we are slowly understanding better.

01:11 There's a lot of research happening currently in this space and I think as that research

01:17 comes through we'll probably have a better tool kit to identify breast injuries and then

01:22 how to manage them.

01:23 I think just getting people that do know about it and can help us in any way would be amazing

01:28 to come in and teach us and educate us.
