00:03 Derbyshire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman was left in a critical condition after an assault.

00:10 Officers were called at 11.20am on Sunday morning to report that a woman had been assaulted at a house in Greenhill Lane in Riddings.

00:17 At the scene, a woman, who was in her 20s, was found with serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

00:25 A scene has been put in police and there will be a police presence in the area throughout today.

00:30 A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.

00:36 Police say that the incident is understood to be domestic in nature and the victim and suspect are known to each other.

00:42 Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may be able to help with their enquiries.

00:48 A lifelong Coronation Street fan from Chesterfield was given the best surprise by her family, a day trip to visit the TV set.

00:55 Barbara Hopkinson, 79, began watching The Soap in her 20s and has never missed an episode.

01:00 Her daughter Karen and granddaughters Molly and Lauren decided to surprise her with a day on the set.

01:06 Molly, who filmed the whole day, said that her nan was like a child in a sweet sop during her special day at the studio set.
