00:00 As we come into once every 12 years, dragon year, many people are gearing up to have dragon baby.

00:08 When somebody's sperm actually is not good up to the mark, then we need to do something about it.

00:15 For the first installation, we're going to talk about how to fix oligo-asteno-teratospermia with an operation.

00:25 So what exactly is OAT? OAT stands for oligo-asteno-teratospermia.

00:38 Oligo means not enough sperms, if you actually have less than 15 million per mil.

00:44 Asteno means that they're not really moving so fast, so less than 40% of them are motile.

00:51 And terato meaning that less than 4% of them are actually of morphology, which has head, neck and tail.

00:58 So the commonest reason why people have this and many men don't really know about it is a condition called varicoseal.

01:06 You can imagine that the varicose vein of your legs actually is happening in your scrotum.

01:11 And because of that dilated vessels, it heat up the actual testicular temperature.

01:17 And because of that, you have a poorer quality of sperm count.

01:22 So how do you rectify that? In fact, varicoseal actually comes in various degree of severity.

01:30 Grade 0 actually is not detectable and in grade 1, 2 and 3 are increasingly more severe.

01:38 Obviously, the most severe one, if you correct it, then you can see a significant improvement in the sperm quality.

01:46 So therefore, there are many ways that you can correct varicoseal.

01:50 Sometimes we can directly go to the scrotum and ligate the vessels. That is called varicoseal ligation.

01:58 Other conditions such as embolization, we use some cloths and block off the vessel so that that will not cause dilation of the vessels.

02:08 Or sometimes we may even do laparoscopic surgery.

02:11 The unfortunate thing is that most of these procedures can actually recur.

02:17 And then for some men, after they have the baby, when they want to have a second baby, these sort of problems will recur.

02:24 So we actually have done quite a lot of scientific review.

02:30 We know that men who live more healthy, more exercise, more sleep, more hydration, actually have better sperm quality anyway.

02:39 So with additional operation, they might actually improve it and might get you on track to get that dragon baby.

02:47 For the following week, we are actually going to talk about what lifestyle changes you should have.
