About 2,000 people braved heavy rain on Saturday (Aug 9) to join the Malaysia Bangkit Untuk Gaza (H4G) rally at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

00:04Heavy rain did not stop about 2,000 people from gathering at Dataran Merdeka on Saturday
00:09for the Malaysia Bankit Untuk Gaza H4G rally,
00:13a show of solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
00:16The rally, which began at 4 p.m., attracted participants from all walks of life.
00:22We are here to protest against the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
00:27We are against killing of innocent humans.
00:31I hope that the ceasefire will be tomorrow.
00:35I want this war to end and the occupation also to end as soon as possible.
00:41We are talking about kids, mothers, fathers, elderly people who are dying every day,
00:49just to get some food.

00:55Among those present were Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association, PPIM,
01:01Chief Activist Datuk Nadzim Johan, politician and activist Tian Chua,
01:07and Terengganu Mentri Besar's Office Special Officer for Non-Islamic Affairs,
01:12Dr. Balachandran Gopal Krishnan.
01:15We are here today because we want to show our solidarity of Malaysian from all races,
01:27all religion, and as Malaysian, we should not be silent when we see oppression,
01:36when we see starvation, when we see massacre.
01:40It has been two years we see the Palestinian people have been subject to the cruelest massacre,
01:49ethnic cleansing, and genocide.
01:52So we as Malaysians should not stand silent.
01:57Police closed major roads leading to Dataran Merdeka and kept a close watch to ensure the peaceful event proceeded smoothly.
02:05The program opened with Nasid performances, poetry recitals, and a flash mob,
02:11followed by speeches and youth performances.
02:14Participants later performed Maghrib prayers, solat hajat, and special prayers for Gaza.
02:20Other highlights included a Gaza forum, a special screening on the plight of Palestinians,
02:26and speeches by political leaders, NGO representatives, and international delegates.
02:32The rally concluded with the reading of the Malaysia for Palestine declaration.
