00:09 In Argentina, labor organizations
00:11 began national strike to reject Javier Mille's
00:13 neoliberal policies.
00:14 Hundreds of protesters blocked Tel Aviv's main highway
00:21 on Wednesday night, calling on the government
00:23 to secure the immediate release of hostages held
00:26 captive in the Gaza Strip.

00:30 The president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan,
00:33 together with his Iranian counterpart, Ebrahim Raisi,
00:37 agreed on the need to avoid measures
00:39 that would further threaten the security
00:41 and stability of the region.
00:42 Hello, and welcome to "From the South."
00:47 I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:51 We begin with the news.
00:52 Argentinians conclude their protest
00:54 around the National Congress building,
00:56 where they had gathered to express
00:58 the rejection of the policies of Javier Mille's government.
01:01 Citizens and workers unions had mobilized massively
01:04 in the center of Buenos Aires, covering several streets
01:07 around Congress.
01:08 During the rally, the demonstrators
01:10 rejected the economic policies decrees and laws promoted
01:14 by Mille's government, considering them
01:16 a violation of their labor rights
01:18 and a surrender of the nation to the hands
01:20 of the private sectors.
01:21 [AUDIO OUT]
01:34 --and why the striking--
01:36 just 45 days after President Javier Mille took office,
01:39 making it the fastest action of its kind
01:42 into the term of the new government.
01:44 Thousands of workers took to the streets
01:46 after a mobilization called by the General Workers' Union, CGT,
01:50 and social movements in the country.
01:52 In this context, Telesur invites Argentine journalist
01:55 and social communicator Pablo Malicia to analyze these events.
01:59 Welcome to From the South.
02:03 Hi, Alejandra.
02:03 How are you doing?
02:04 I'm good.
02:05 Thank you for being with us today.
02:08 So our first question would be, Javier Mille's liberal measure
02:12 faced their first massive obstacle today,
02:15 with thousands of taking to the streets across the country.
02:18 So how has Argentina lived this day of demonstrations?
02:22 And what is the significance of this general strike?
02:26 Well, as you mentioned, this is the strongest strike ever
02:32 in Argentine history in such a short period of time.
02:38 But it was not only that the workers marched, again,
02:44 trying to protect themselves from a cut of rights
02:48 that the government is planning to do in the matter of labor
02:55 laws and rights.
02:58 But also, the workers marched because the government
03:02 is planning to surrender the Argentinean sovereignty
03:07 in every way.
03:10 So the conscience of the people is very aware
03:15 that they want to sell the companies, the oil
03:19 companies, the big state-owned companies.
03:22 And they want to, for example, allow people from abroad
03:28 to be able to buy as much Argentinean land as they want,
03:32 including rivers, including lakes, including seashore.
03:36 You know, it's the technical positions
03:38 that shouldn't be in the hands of foreign people.
03:42 So this is the government--
03:44 more than Millet's government, this
03:46 is the vulture fund's government,
03:52 since they are the true black monks behind President Millet.
03:59 He represents their interests.
04:02 And they are willing to break Argentinean parts.
04:06 Argentina is for sale right now.
04:09 And the government has declared a war
04:12 against the Argentinean people.
04:14 And they won't hesitate to use as much force as they need to,
04:22 including bloodshed, if they need to,
04:26 in order to impose these measures they
04:30 want to push forward.
04:34 Over the past weeks, Pablo, the government
04:37 has threatened to impose prison sentences on the demonstrators
04:41 who take to the streets.
04:42 And yet thousands are advancing today
04:44 along the main avenues of the country.
04:46 So how has been the police deployment
04:48 throughout the country?
04:49 Are there any reports of police brutality?
04:54 There are.
04:56 The police seems to be looking for a problem to happen.
05:03 They want it to happen.
05:04 They need some problem to start in order for them to act.
05:11 Fortunately, there has not been major situations,
05:17 because the people is aware of these situations.
05:20 But I don't think the demonstration day
05:24 is over yet in Argentina.
05:27 This may continue.
05:28 In many cities in Argentina, they
05:31 are planning to march in the nighttime.
05:38 And since the act we saw earlier today
05:42 was from the workers' unions, and they already
05:48 left, let's say, the places where the demonstration was
05:55 being done, now it is possible that all the major cities have
06:02 nighttime demonstrations with, let's say,
06:06 people that is not in any worker union, or just
06:10 simple citizens that wants to claim and to show
06:16 their disagreement with all these policies that, I repeat,
06:22 surrenders all our sovereignty to not only
06:26 to foreign countries and governments,
06:30 but especially to the voucher funds, who
06:34 are the real people backing up President Diley.
06:39 So let's highlight that yesterday,
06:42 the so-called omnibus bill passed its first test
06:46 in Congress committees.
06:47 Do you think this national strike
06:49 could lead to a real change of the policy in the country
06:53 and stop the approval of this mega decree?
06:58 I think that this is-- no, no, no.
07:02 I don't think that this demonstration is
07:04 going to achieve much more than what it already has.
07:11 But I also say that this is the first step in this long way.
07:17 There is a long way of struggle of the people,
07:22 of the workers, of the working class.
07:24 And this is only the first step.
07:26 And it was a very strong step.
07:28 But I also think that President Mele is also
07:34 willing to prove his own manhood, in a way,
07:39 by repressing and using violence.
07:45 And I think that in the near future,
07:50 these demonstrations will start to be more and more often.
07:55 And perhaps we are going to a path of violence in Argentina
08:01 as we never saw before.
08:04 Thank you so much for your time, hearing from the South, Pablo.
08:09 You're welcome.
08:10 My pleasure.
08:11 We were talking to Pablo Malizia, Argentine journalist
08:14 and social communicator, live from Santa Teresita City
08:18 in Buenos Aires province, amid the national strike taking
08:21 place in Argentina against the government of President Javier
08:24 Mele.

09:03 Welcome back.
09:10 Hundreds of protesters briefly blocked Tel Aviv's main highway
09:14 on Wednesday night, calling on the government
09:16 to secure the immediate release of more than 100 hostages held
09:20 captive in the Gaza Strip.
09:22 The march was part of the National Day of Rage,
09:25 led by a women's group under the slogan,
09:27 "Women Demand Life."
09:29 The rallies extended throughout the day and across the nation,
09:32 with the main demonstrations being downtown Tel Aviv.
09:35 The demonstrations were the latest show of displeasure
09:38 with the government by families of the hostages
09:41 and their many supporters.
09:42 The protesters say the hostages are in grave danger
09:45 and time is running out to bring them home safely.
09:49 Police cleared the marches of the Ayalon Highway
09:52 before the crowd gathered outside the nearby building,
09:55 where the Israeli military and defense ministry
09:57 are headquartered.
09:58 Palestinian Foreign Minister Rejad al-Maliki
10:06 called for a world peace conference
10:08 to uphold international law and implement United Nations
10:12 resolutions on the Gaza Strip.
10:14 During a meeting of the United Nations Security Council,
10:17 the senior Palestinian official stated
10:19 that the Israeli offensive includes
10:21 the most savage and indiscriminate bombardment
10:23 in the post-Second World War era,
10:26 in addition to massive destruction and a cruel siege
10:29 that deprives the population of this essential
10:31 for their survival, together with the forced displacement
10:35 of millions of people.
10:36 In this context, the Secretary General of the organization,
10:39 Antonio Guterres, affirmed that Israel's position
10:42 of rejecting the two-state solution is unacceptable
10:46 and called for the entry of food and supplies to the Gaza Strip.
10:49 The entire population of Gaza is enduring destruction
10:57 at a scale and speed without parallel in recent history.
11:03 Nothing can justify the collective punishment
11:07 of the Palestinian people.
11:08 We need more crossing points into Gaza
11:10 to reduce congestion and avoid checkpoints.
11:14 The provision of aid to Gaza via the Ashdod port in Israel
11:18 must also resume.
11:19 The first shipment of flour reached Gaza from Ashdod,
11:23 but much more is required.
11:25 For his part, the Russian Foreign Minister,
11:27 Sergei Lavrov, affirmed that the United States blocked
11:30 all the initiatives of the Security Council that
11:33 sought to put an end to the bloodshed
11:36 of the Palestinian people.
11:39 The Council has failed to come up
11:41 with an adequate response to this truly fateful challenge,
11:44 and we know the reason from the US positions.
11:48 The United States has blocked all the first initiatives
11:51 aimed at ending the bloodshed in the occupied territory.
11:54 The amazing thing is how widespread US diplomacy is.
11:58 It oscillates between vetoing ceasefire resolutions
12:01 and, at the same time, calling for a reduction
12:04 in the intensity of hostilities in Gaza.
12:07 This undoubtedly serves as a carte blanche
12:09 for the ongoing collective punishment of the Palestinians.
12:13 In this sense, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir
12:16 Abdullahian condemned the complicity of the United
12:19 States with the genocide perpetrated by Israel
12:22 and rejected the attacks on Yemen.
12:25 The United States repeatedly expresses
12:27 great concern over this spirover of tension in the region,
12:31 yet continues to fully support the Israeli-Jerusalem war,
12:34 machine, and even violates Yemen's sovereignty
12:37 and expands the scope of the conflict.
12:39 The United States must take responsibility
12:41 for its consequences.
12:45 Palestinian people suffer from Israel's restriction
12:48 on the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid
12:51 in the Gaza Strip.
12:52 The president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi,
12:55 declared that although the Rafah border crossing with Gaza
12:58 remains open, the occupation forces
13:01 maintain uncontrolled restrictions
13:03 to delay the delivery of humanitarian aid.
13:05 Furthermore, the Egyptian president
13:07 affirmed that this is a strategy on the part of Israel
13:10 to put pressure on the release of more hostages.
13:13 On the other hand, the United Nations World Food Program
13:17 also affirmed that the limitations
13:18 on the access of humanitarian aid on the part of Israel
13:22 prevent supplies from reaching the most affected areas of Gaza.
13:25 The Israeli government acknowledged on Wednesday
13:33 that its economy has been affected by attacks
13:35 by Yemeni armed forces on commercial vessels linked
13:38 to Tel Aviv operations.
13:40 According to local media, the Israeli port of Eilat
13:43 has experienced at least $3 billion
13:45 in direct economic losses, as the import and export of goods
13:49 to and from Israel has been affected by the attacks
13:52 on ships in the Red Sea.
13:54 According to Israeli sources, the transshipment scope
13:57 of all Israeli seaports was significantly reduced by 70%.
14:02 In turn, the Houthis claim that the operation started
14:04 on November 14 will continue until the end of Tel Aviv's
14:08 illegal war in the Gaza Strip.
14:10 In Yemen, Houthi authorities ordered
14:17 US and British United Nations personnel
14:19 and humanitarian organizations to leave
14:21 the country within a month.
14:23 The decision follows US and British attacks
14:25 with the support of other nations
14:27 on the group's military assets.
14:29 The United States claims that the military action intends
14:32 to stop attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea,
14:36 while the Houthis state that their attacks are
14:38 in solidarity with Palestinians after Israel's
14:41 aggression against Gaza.

15:23 The president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan,
15:26 together with his Iranian counterpart, Ebrahim Raisi,
15:30 agreed on the need to avoid measures
15:31 that would further threaten the security
15:34 and stability of the region.
15:36 At a joint press conference following their meeting
15:38 in Ankara, the two leaders considered
15:41 it necessary to put an end to the inhuman attacks
15:44 by the Israeli occupation forces against the Gaza Strip
15:47 and to take urgent measures to establish
15:49 a just and lasting peace.
15:51 The leaders exchanged views on the recent social and political
15:54 developments in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan,
15:57 and the southern Caucasus.
15:58 To date, Ankara has sent more than 30,000 tons
16:02 of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people
16:04 since the beginning of the attacks from Tel Aviv
16:07 on the Gaza Strip.
16:08 On Wednesday, a fast train collided
16:14 with a truck in Eastern Czech Republic, killing one person
16:17 and injuring at least 19 people.
16:19 Czech railways said the driver of the train was killed
16:22 and that the injured had been transported
16:24 to nearby hospitals with no life-threatening injuries.
16:28 Police said there were 60 people on board the train
16:31 at the time of the crash.
16:32 The accident occurred early in the morning
16:35 when a fast train heading to Fort Bragg, the country's
16:38 capital, hit a truck at a crossing
16:40 near the town of Bohimin.
16:42 It was not immediately clear why the truck was on the tracks.
16:47 Authorities said an investigation
16:49 was underway into the cause of the crash.
16:56 The Vatican sentenced priest Gabriel Martinelli
16:59 to two years and six months in prison
17:01 on Wednesday for sexual abuse.
17:03 The Court of Appeal overturned a first-degree sentence
17:07 against Martinelli, finding him guilt of corruption of minors
17:10 for a series of abuses committed between 2007 and 2012
17:15 against another student at the priest's seminary,
17:17 Site Pius X. For her part, the victim's lawyers
17:21 highlighted the importance of the sentence,
17:23 describing it as historic, demanding justice
17:26 for her client who has experienced years of suffering.
17:30 The conviction, the first of its kind in Vatican territory,
17:33 represents a significant step in the fight
17:35 against sexual abuse in the Church,
17:37 demonstrating the commitment of the ecclesiastical justice
17:40 system to address this type of case.
17:43 The Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation
17:50 of Russia commented on Wednesday on the intention
17:53 of the President of Ecuador, Daniel Noboy,
17:55 to transfer weapons and military equipment of Russian
17:58 manufacture to the United States without obtaining
18:01 the corresponding permission from the Russian Federation.
18:04 The Russian agency said that if this were to happen,
18:08 Ecuador would be violating its international obligations.
18:11 It added that the agreement between Moscow and Quito
18:14 on military technical cooperation signed in 2008
18:18 stipulates that the transfer of military items obtained
18:21 as a result of bilateral military technical cooperation
18:24 to a third party is unacceptable without the prior writing
18:28 consent of the Russian Federation.
18:31 The agency's response comes after Noboy's statement
18:34 in which he assured that his country will deliver
18:36 to Washington Russian and Ukrainian military machinery
18:40 in disuse in exchange for modern equipment.

18:48 - In China, at least 39 dead and nine injured
19:05 are reported as a result of a fire in the basement of a store
19:08 in the city of Xinzhou, located in the eastern province
19:12 of Jiangxi.
19:13 According to local authorities, the rescue work
19:15 has been concluded and the area has been evaluated.
19:19 The fire department reported that at least 15 units
19:22 were found to be at risk of fire, seven of which
19:25 are located in the same district where the tragedy occurred.
19:28 In this regard, President Xi Jinping
19:30 urged the regions and departments
19:32 to assess the potential risk and assume the responsibilities
19:36 to prevent serious casualties, ensure
19:38 the safety of people's life and property.
19:41 The causes of the accident are still unknown,
19:44 and an investigation is underway to clarify the cause.
19:47 The number of active forest fires in Colombia
19:55 has increased from four to 21 amid record temperatures.
20:00 According to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management,
20:03 the department hardest hit by fires
20:05 is Cundinamarca, whose capital is Bogota,
20:08 and where are fires in at least five municipalities.
20:12 In the capital city, a raging fire burning since Monday
20:15 has affected at least 12 hectares of the Cerros
20:18 Orientales mountain range.
20:20 And at this time, we go back to Palestine,
20:29 where in a new Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip,
20:31 at least 14 Palestinians were killed and hundreds injured.
20:35 Our correspondent, Huda Hegazi, brings us the latest details
20:39 from the ground.
20:40 According to Palestinian sources,
20:47 today at approximately 2 PM, Israeli occupation army troops
20:52 proceeded to invade and surround the industrial headquarters
20:56 in the governorate of Janinez, which
20:58 was the first refugee camp set up by UNRWA, the United Nations
21:03 Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees
21:06 in Palestine, where they proceeded
21:08 to set up thousands of tents.
21:11 It is a refugee camp that evacuates approximately 70,000
21:15 Palestinians.
21:16 Today, Israeli troops proceeded not only
21:19 to surround and invade the refugee camp,
21:21 but also proceeded to bomb it directly.
21:24 According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health,
21:27 two missiles from tanks of the occupation army
21:30 fell on a building which was evacuating approximately
21:34 1,800 Gazans, in addition to the fact
21:38 that the planes and drones of the occupation army
21:41 also proceeded to drop bombs on tents sheltering Gazans.
21:45 Therefore, these bombing have caused
21:48 the death of at least 14 Gazans and the injury
21:51 of hundreds of others.
21:53 But according to the UNRWA director,
21:56 he assured that he has tried to contact ambulances,
22:00 the International Red Crescent, and even the Red Cross
22:03 to evacuate the wounded and to evacuate the martyrs.
22:07 Still, it has been assured that the Israeli troops are
22:11 preventing any ambulance car or any firefighting
22:14 team from reaching that place by cutting the roads
22:18 and even proceeding to open fire and shelling
22:21 any ambulance car or any firefighting car that
22:25 proceeded to approach that area.
22:28 Therefore, UNRWA has been forced to bury the 14 Gazans who
22:32 have been victims of these Israeli bombings
22:36 by opening a mass grave in that refugee camp
22:39 and bury them collectively after several attempts
22:43 in ambulance cars.
22:44 Several ambulance cars have been able to reach
22:47 the site of the incident and so far have transferred 73
22:51 victims to various hospitals in the governorate of Rafa,
22:56 because as we know, the hospital in the governorate of Canones
23:00 are completely overrun and surrounded
23:03 by the Israeli occupation army, such as Nasser Hospital,
23:08 Al-Mal Hospital, and Al-Harid Hospital.
23:11 And therefore, all the wounded have
23:13 been transferred to Abu Yusuf Al-Nahar Hospital
23:17 and Al-Khwait Hospital here in this governorate.
23:21 Now, the fear is that new bombings will be carried out
23:25 in this refugee camp, because as we mentioned at the beginning,
23:29 more than 70,000 Gazans are being evacuated.
23:33 Among them are children, women, and elderly,
23:37 and now the fear is for their lives.
23:40 Therefore, UNRWA has asked the Red Cross, the International
23:44 Red Crescent, and this human rights organization
23:48 to evacuate all the Gazans who are inside this refugee camp,
23:53 because their lives are in grave danger.
