Three men pleaded guilty to five charges for faking documents to commit tax fraud involving luxury car purchases that caused the country to lose RM33mil in taxes.

Mohd Noh Hussain, Mohd Khairul Suberi and Fairul Ismazi Ishak pleaded guilty to the charges at the Alor Setar Sessions Court on Monday.

00:43 to deceive Langkawi Customs Office.
00:46 The third accused, Fairul, was charged with faking a customs form for import shipment
00:51 at the same location.
00:53 Lawyer Mohamed Hakim Hamran, who represented all of the accused, pressed for a minimum
00:58 sentence saying his client's guilty plea had saved the court's time from a lengthy trial.

01:08 cooperative with MACC investigators and voluntarily attended the court proceedings.
01:14 Judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah said she would only meet out the sentences on Tuesday.
01:19 She granted a bail of 20,000 ringgit for Mohamed Noh with one surety, 10,000 ringgit for Mohamed
01:26 Kairul with one surety, and 5,000 ringgit for Fairul with one surety.
01:31 It is learned that another three members of the syndicate are expected to be brought to
01:35 Alor Star Sessions Court to be charged on Tuesday.
01:39 It was earlier reported that graft investigators carried out a special operation after the
01:44 Auditor General's report 2022 highlighted shortages in Langkawi Customs Department's
01:49 duty collection between 2012 and 2021.
01:53 According to the report, there was a leakage of more than 72 million ringgit in duty collections,
01:59 involving 100 luxury cars of make such as Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari
02:05 and Porsche.
02:07 Acting on the report, the MACC carried out a special operation codenamed "Ops Eagle."
02:13 In the operation, six members of the syndicate aged between 30 and 60 were caught on July
02:18 13 last year when they presented themselves at the MACC office to get their statements
