00:00 A 20-year ordeal of solitary confinement without trial in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba may be at an
00:09 end next week for two Malaysian terror suspects, Nazir Lap and Farik Amin.
00:14 It is understood that Farik and Nazir will be entering a guilty plea for their role in
00:19 bomb attacks in Bali and Jakarta in 2003.
00:22 Nazir's lawyer, Brian Bouffard, said the dates for their hearing from January 15 to
00:27 February 2 have been confirmed by the US Military Court in Guantanamo Bay.
00:32 Speaking to FMT, Bouffard said Nazir has accepted responsibility for his role in these offences.
00:39 However, Bouffard declined to say what the possible sentences are, saying he would leave
00:44 it to the court to decide.
00:46 However, an anti-terrorism expert, Ahmad El-Muhammadi, said there is a possibility that Farik and
00:52 Nazir will be repatriated to Malaysia after their sentencing.
00:56 Ahmad, who works closely with Bukit Aman and the Home Ministry, said it has been suggested
01:01 that the duo undergo two more years of detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act upon
01:06 their return.
