00:08The backbenchers said this would reduce government spending, align federal and state election cycles,
00:13and improve voter turnout for the State Assembly polls, ensuring more accurate representation.
00:19Chalam MP Azli Yousaf said state elections tend to record lower voter turnouts when held separately from nationwide polls,
00:26leaving the elected state government with a smaller mandate.
00:29Sebenarnya pilihan raya negeri ini pun kalau dia buat, dia tidak menggabarkan satu,
00:35memberikan satu keadilan juga kepada pemegi, especially yang jauh-jauh biasanya,

00:42Keduanya, yang dia pergi ke luar, nak balik, ni pun dia nak berbelanja juga.
00:47Jadi pada dia, ada yang berfikir pilihan raya negeri tak berapa penting.

00:53Jadi dia tak memberikan satu gambaran sebenar kepada kuasa memilih rakyat.

01:06resulting in lower turnouts, as seen in the Melaka, Sarawa and Johor State polls held between 2021 and 2022.

01:17You know, I think money are good for better usage for development of the country.
01:23Azli agreed, pointing out that millions of ringgit would have to be spent every time an election is held.
