00:19 A series of pre-ingress activities is currently being conducted by the National Sports Academy
00:26 to prepare their enrolled student athletes for the opening of the new school year.
00:30 One of the sports involved in this week-long session is judo, wherein a total of 15 young judokas
00:36 are under the training of renowned martial arts coach and lieutenant colonel Lomel Miranda.
00:41 We at Pinoy Judo Association are committed to the active and positive contribution in developing judo in the country,
00:54 whether that be in sports or in art, as well as of course with the judokas.
00:59 We would like to hopefully train them from this level of being students to become Olympians in the future.
01:08 In an interview with National Representative Emil Bong Arroyo,
01:12 he said that their mandate is to provide quality secondary education for the young athletes
01:17 while also giving them proper training for their sport.
01:20 The National Academy of Sports is that school for student athletes aspiring to be the next generation of Olympians.
01:29 So we hope to bring them from home to podium and create the next generation of
01:34 Jai Dillen Diases, E.J. Obienas, Carlos Yulos, and others in the focus sports of NAS.
01:42 The Academy was established in accordance to Republic Act No. 11470, signed by former President Rodrigo Duterte in 2020.
01:51 Besides judo, other focus sports included in the Phase 1 program of the Academy are swimming,
01:57 athletics, badminton, gymnastics, table tennis, taekwondo, and weightlifting.
02:04 Therefore, Arroyo encouraged other aspiring young athletes all over the country to enroll in the Academy,
02:09 which offers full scholarship benefits.
02:11 We are inviting all the young student athletes graduating from elementary this school year
02:19 and those who are grade 7 and would like to do a lateral entry into grade 8 at the National Academy of Sports.

02:30 Through the National Academy of Sports, the next generation of Filipino athletes will be developed
02:35 into world-class talents that will surely bring pride and honor to our country in the near future.
