00:02It was a really beautiful service down here this morning.
00:05It's been 98 years since this service first begun at dawn on Anzac Day here in Martin Place in the
00:12heart of Sydney.
00:14The minute silence was particularly moving because it's, you know, it's very unlikely to get a whole minute of complete
00:21silence in the heart of Sydney to really take your time to think about the sacrifices that our servicemen and
00:28women made.
00:29Some other moving parts of the service included two choirs, the Sydney Males Choir, as well as the Sydney Maldi
00:36Choir, which sung in Maldi language down here.
00:40There was also a lot of dignitaries here, of course, New South Wales Premier Chris Minns was here, as well
00:46as Opposition Leader Kelly Sloan, the Lord Mayor Clover Moore, as well as Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon, all paying their
00:54respects.
00:54But it was just amazing to see how many people were here in Martin Place.
01:00You really couldn't fill it with anyone more.
01:05And Julia, there was some booing during the service.
01:10Yeah, that's right.
01:12Uncle Raymond Minnacon was giving an acknowledgement to country down here.
01:18He's a cabby cabby and goorang goorang man.
01:21He was giving that acknowledgement to country when a small amount of people started booing him on one side of
01:29the service.
01:29Now, I could kind of see that there was some people in the crowd that tried to disperse that.
01:35And we've now heard from police that a 24-year-old man has been arrested and taken to Day Street
01:41Police Station for alleged acts of nuisance during a war memorial service.
01:47Police say some other people were also moved along during that incident.
01:52But Uncle Ray remained unfazed during that acknowledgement to country.
01:56His grandfather served in the Light Horse Brigade and two of his brothers were serving in the Vietnam War.
02:04So Anzac Day is something that's particularly close to his heart.
02:09Here's what the New South Wales RSL President Brigadier Vincent Williams had to say about that incident.
02:17That was the most appalling act that I have ever seen at a dawn service.
02:22And I apologise unreservedly to Uncle Ray.
02:28It's clear through his wonderful acknowledgement of country that, or welcome to country,
02:34that his family has contributed enormously to our nation through from the First World War to the current day.
02:41And I'm pretty convinced that none of that bunch of louts who were booing have ever done anything constructive for
02:50our nation.
02:53At the end of that acknowledgement to country, there was a huge round of applause for Uncle Ray and shows
03:00of support for him.
03:02So only a couple of minutes which marred an otherwise really beautiful service down here at Martin Place in the
03:09heart of Sydney.
