Veteran broadcaster Annie Nightingale has died at the age of 83, the BBC has said. She became Radio 1’s first female presenter when she joined the station in 1970, and went on to become its longest-serving host. In 2019, she was made a CBE for services to radio. Nightingale remained on air until late last year with ‘Annie Nightingale presents...’ on Radio 1. Report by Jonesia.
