00:00 It's a great way of bringing all the family together, from the children to the grandparents
00:05 to the parents. You can come, you can have a nice walk around, you know, walk off those
00:10 winter blues, get out and about, see some beautiful lights, see the garden in a different
00:13 light and just have a really nice evening out.
00:16 An enchanting light trail in Greater Manchester is bringing magic to the city region this
00:21 winter.
00:22 Glow at RHS Garden Bridgewater in Worsley is a luminating part of its 154-acre grounds.
00:29 With spectacular light displays until the end of December this year.
00:33 There are light tunnels, fairy lights, mirror balls and much more, and the trail engages
00:37 all your senses with enchanting tunes from the Chinese Music Pavilion.
00:42 Performers from Jago Juggling Arts take to the stage to light up the night with a stunning
00:46 light poi juggling act.
00:49 We headed down to check out Glow for ourselves.
00:51 This is the third year that we've done Glow at Bridgewater and it's our winter light trail
00:56 so it's an opportunity to see the garden in a completely different light.
00:59 Obviously it's the middle of winter, it's December, lots of our plants have gone dormant
01:04 for the season so we give visitors an opportunity to see how it looks a bit different at an
01:09 alternative time of the year.
01:10 We're a huge site, we're 154 acres, now the trail isn't all of that 154 acres, that would
01:15 take hours to walk around.
01:16 But if you come with your family you could spend an evening here, there's plenty of places
01:20 to eat and drink either before, during or after the trail.
01:23 It'll probably take 40 minutes to an hour to walk around it but it's a great festive
01:28 thing to do with your friends, with your family, it's a really nice way to set yourself up
01:32 for Christmas.
01:33 There's thousands of lights over several kilometres, we've got all LED lights because obviously
01:38 sustainability is really important to us.
01:41 But yeah we've tried to illuminate as much of the trail as possible just to give people
01:45 a real sense of what there is to see here.
01:48 We've tried to make our light trail really specific to the garden.
01:52 So it's all about the garden, there's some beautiful trees that we've uplit.
01:57 But we've also tried to bring a little bit of magic in as well.
02:01 So for example we've got our light juggler, great for kids, great for families, it's like
02:06 some sort of alchemist, the way he creates shapes and words with his juggling.
02:11 We've got an interactive light sculpture and we've got some projection mapping onto Garden
02:17 Cottage, one of the more iconic buildings here.
02:19 And that's co-commissioned with Lightwaves from Media City who we've been working with.
02:23 It's getting dark already, it's almost four o'clock and so yeah it's definitely the best
02:28 time of year for us to do it.
