London's Kew Gardens opens annual festive light trail

Visitors to London's famous Kew Gardens this Christmas will get to walk a festive night-time trail that uses lights to bring the garden to life. - REUTERS

00:00So this is the 12th year of Christmas at Kew and it's more popular than ever.

00:27We first started the trail as a way of getting people to come to the gardens at the darkest,

00:31coldest time of the year and now hundreds of thousands of people come every year to

00:35enjoy the lights, to soak up the atmosphere of Christmas at Kew.

00:38One of the most important aspects of Christmas at Kew is for people to bond with nature.

00:42The trees are some of the biggest stars of the show.

00:46It's all about the wonder of nature, the architecture of the trees.

00:50Lots of people, Christmas at Kew is their first experience of coming to Kew and they

00:54see this wonderful landscape in the night time.

00:57We hope it makes them come back again and again.

00:59And although it's kind of light touch and it's a fun event, we do weave sustainability

01:04stories throughout Christmas at Kew so the message is there for people to take away and

01:08think about and think about what they can do.
