A man had a lucky escape after an angle grinder blade snapped in half and almost flew into his groin.

Alastair Candlin, 22, was grinding steel in his back garden for a DIY project when the incident happened.

A video of the aftermath shows the broken blade still on the grinder - with the other half lodged in the Alastair's trousers - just centimeters away from his crotch.

Alastair said he spent a few seconds looking for the blade before finding it in the uncomfortable spot.

Alastair, who works as an electrician in Brisbane, Australia, said: "I was grinding some steel when the grinder blade snapped and flew.

"I was looking around and found it in the last place I’d want it - between my legs."

Alastair said the moment left him shaken but quickly shrugged it off.

Alastair explained: "Afterwards I was a little shook as it could’ve been a lot worse.

"[Afterwards] I put the safety guard on and kept working."
