Rounds of rain, mountain snow to pound Northwest

A train of storms moving in from the Pacific will deliver multiple rounds of heavy rain and mountain snow to the Northwest and northern Rockies through the weekend.

00:00 Well, as you're taking a look at the

00:02 infrared satellite here in the Pacific

00:03 Northwest, you'll notice a couple

00:05 clouds cruising across the region,

00:06 but. I want to turn your attention here.

00:10 To this, this is our next storm and

00:11 that is going to bring a little more

00:13 in the way of wet weather back to

00:15 the northwest, but it's not here yet.

00:17 So today soak up that sunshine across I5,

00:19 Seattle, Bellingham, Olympia and

00:20 even Longview in the 40s today.

00:22 And we are looking at mainly some

00:24 sunshine across the region.

00:25 In fact, that sunshine stays all

00:27 the way out toward Helena 44 degrees.

00:29 Today 39 in Boise.

00:30 Hey, I didn't say it was a warm day.

00:32 I just said it was a sunny one.

00:34 Even the sunshine,

00:35 though a little harder to find in Spokane.

00:37 Peaks of it here and there only

00:39 getting to 28 degrees,

00:40 so if clouds a little more present

00:42 across eastern Washington back

00:44 towards 65 degrees in Redding and

00:45 49 degrees in Medford, Oregon.

00:47 Hopefully you enjoy that little taste

00:49 of sun even with the chill in spots

00:51 because tis the season not just

00:53 for the holidays my friends,

00:54 but check out Seattle in a given year.

00:57 You'll notice how from the summer

00:58 we quickly cruise into fall and

01:00 winter with a lot more rain in a

01:02 given month. For example,

01:04 in November the historical average

01:05 amount of rain in Seattle is 6.31 inches.

01:08 That's a lot,

01:08 especially compared to July when

01:10 they don't even get an inch.

01:12 Now that rain we're going to add to

01:14 the totals as we look to Thursday,

01:16 which I guess technically is the first day.

01:18 Nope, last day of November.

01:19 I was going to say it was the first day

01:22 of December, but that's on Friday.

01:24 So here we go.

01:25 Adding to the totals on the last day

01:27 of November, I was just pointing

01:28 out in the infrared satellite.

01:30 It's going to bring some rain

01:32 back toward I-5 and then as you

01:33 get up to the Cascade Mountain Range,

01:35 more in the way of snowfall,

01:37 even down toward past level,

01:38 and that continues into Friday as well.

01:40 Snowfall in the mountains more in

01:42 the way of rain into the valleys,

01:44 the low lying areas,

01:45 and that snowfall even a couple snow

01:46 showers back toward the Bitterroot Range,

01:48 back toward the Lewis Range in Montana.

01:50 And even as you're getting down to

01:52 the Rockies into parts of Wyoming,

01:53 we are looking more in the way of some snow.

01:56 We're looking at some more

01:57 here is here and as we head into

01:59 the weekend we've got another storm

02:00 that yes could bring some flakes

02:02 back to the higher elevations of

02:04 the Cascades in the Rockies,

02:05 but more than anything,

02:06 this storm is going to be a little

02:08 bit warmer overall and it's going

02:10 to bring some soaking rain back to

02:11 I-5 look through Friday, Saturday,

02:13 Sunday, even into Monday morning.

02:14 How wet it is back toward I-5.

02:16 This is going to make travel

02:18 really uncomfortable,

02:18 and if you want the gist of it,

02:21 the flavor of the week here in Seattle,

02:23 I wasn't kidding when I said enjoy today,

02:25 even with the chill.

02:26 At least it's some sunshine in the afternoon.

02:28 After that,

02:29 it's tough to bring the sun back into

02:31 the picture at least for the next week.
