Transcript
00:00 Two attempted murder cases were filed against the SUV driver who was involved in the latest road rage incident in Mandaluyong City.
00:08 This is Patrick De Jesus' report.
00:10 This dash cam video was taken at 8 am yesterday in the southbound lane of Edsa, Mandaluyong.
00:19 A SUV was seen being hit by a motorcycle.
00:24 And just a few moments later, it suddenly hit the road. The motorcycle fell and the motorcycle taxi driver was hit.
00:31 The passenger was also hit.
00:33 The driver of the SUV was stopped by the MMDA.
00:35 Pedro Magalit was identified and is now in custody by the Mandaluyong City Police.
00:40 The suspect was charged with two counts of attempted murder.
00:44 He was later brought to the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor's Office for an inquest proceeding.
00:49 We saw it on the CCTV and on the dash cam how it happened.
00:58 It seems like it was an intentional hit because that's why initially we prepared our investigators for an attempted murder.
01:09 We saw the driver's actuation.
01:15 According to the Traffic Comando, the incident was caused by a motorcycle.
01:19 The SUV driver was stopped.
01:27 Because of that, apparently, the SUV driver got angry and had an altercation.
01:35 After that, we can see based on the victim and the video, that the driver of the SUV, our angkas rider, intentionally side-swiped.
01:52 That's the reason why they fell on the road where other vehicles are passing by.
01:57 Minor injuries were inflicted on the victims, where the motorcycle rider's arm was still bent.
02:03 The passenger was also taken to the hospital.
02:06 The Motorcycle Healing App company assured the victims of the incident and supported them in filing a complaint.
02:13 At the end of the day, we need to ensure that these actions are accountable so that it will not happen again.
02:21 This is also a rule for other people that if we have a hot head, we have no right to drive in that kind of condition.
02:32 Even if it's a small vehicle, we should give it respect.
02:37 We cannot just attack anyone because of the heat.
02:44 The LTO's preventive suspension was lifted and the driver of the SUV was licensed.
02:49 He was also sent a show-cause order by the agency to explain why he should not be forgiven for the violation of Republic Act 4136,
02:59 including reckless driving, duty of a driver in case of accident, and improper person to operate a vehicle.
03:06 Patrick De Azuz for the nation.
