00:03 They are the world's leading manufacturer
00:22 of new energy vehicles.
00:23 Now, BYD is just a few sales away
00:27 from overtaking Tesla's world's top seller of EVs.
00:30 And come January, their line of electric vehicles
00:34 will be available right here on TNT,
00:36 retailed by LaFast Motors.
00:39 Our first shipment arrives in December.
00:42 So we will have our launch late January.
00:45 And sales will start thereafter.
00:47 We have four different models coming.
00:50 So you have the small Dolphin, which is a small car.
00:55 It's not an SUV. It's a car.
00:57 Then you have the One Plus, which is a midsize SUV.
01:01 Then we have the high performance Seal,
01:04 which is actually 3.8 seconds, 0 to 60.
01:08 And the E6, kind of a station wagon model.
01:11 And all these cars come fully teched out.
01:14 What kind of price point would we be looking at, range?
01:18 Starting at the late--
01:20 probably $275,000 to $500,000, depending on each model.
01:25 BYD's lineup features the BYD Blade Technology Battery,
01:30 one which automotive analysts tout
01:32 as the safest in the market, excelling at even
01:35 the nail penetration and high temperature tests.
01:39 You will see the quality and reliability and safety
01:42 of these cars, especially with the new Blade
01:45 Battery, which is extremely safe.
01:48 They've done drill tests, crush tests, boom tests,
01:53 and nothing happens to the battery.
01:55 Lithium-ion phosphate battery.
01:58 So it's a lot more safe than coal batteries.
02:01 Ahead of the official launch, LaFast Motors
02:04 has donated a number of electric charging ports
02:06 to various businesses across the country.
02:08 But director Gregory Farrar says there's
02:11 no need for range anxiety, as all customers will also
02:15 receive charging units with the purchase of one
02:18 of the vehicles.
02:19 The charge at home will be $15 to $18 TT on a full charge.
02:25 Our cars are going to do 400 to 500 kilometers
02:29 on a full charge.
02:31 So we actually give you a charge when you buy the car.
02:34 So you install it at home.
02:37 It's 85 kilometers to Point Fort in Frontrunner.
02:40 If you go-- you can go up and down four times realistically.
02:44 So I don't think the range anxiety is
02:47 going to be a big negative in the country.
02:51 Plus, there's also a 110-volt charger.
02:54 So say you go to Blanche to share this with Toco, Balandra,
02:57 or Muyaro for the weekend, you can just plug it in the wall.
03:01 BYD also manufactures electric forklift trucks,
03:04 rail technology, and commercial vehicles, including buses,
03:08 technology which LaFast Motors can benefit this country.
03:13 Every bus in Barbados is a BYD bus.
03:15 And it's been so for a while.
03:17 You only want to pitch some BYD buses
03:20 to the government, to PTSD?
03:22 Would be nice.
03:23 Let's see what happens in the future.
03:25 I am Renessa Cutting, and this was Inside Business.
