00:06 The Lauren Community Development Project was formed in 1997
00:10 and we support local community and voluntary groups throughout the borough.
00:14 We originally applied for a monthly luncheon club,
00:17 but we realised very quickly that people were very desperate to get out and reconnect more,
00:24 so we changed it to a weekly event.
00:26 It was about having that hot meal, that maybe that was the only hot meal they had in the day.
00:31 But it's also about coming together again after COVID and reconnecting with people,
00:36 people that they hadn't maybe seen for a couple of years or they'd lost touch with.
00:40 And we just really, really want to thank Brighter Futures, Kilwater Minerals, for the funding
00:46 because we just wouldn't be here without it.

00:56 allows us to make a really positive impact on the people that rely on the services that they provide daily.

01:04 By providing a meal and somewhere warm for people to gather together,
01:07 this initiative offers a really vital service to the people who come here and use it every week.

01:17 It's just great to know you're somewhere to go on a Monday.
01:20 We came here within May, after we'd been on Wednesday, for about 12 weeks or so.
01:24 So we made up with different people that were out there. It's just lovely to keep in touch.

01:30 It's nice to have that sense of community and getting together.

01:39 Brighter Futures is the official charity of Lauren Football Club
01:42 and we're grateful for the support we receive from local businesses,
01:46 such as Quarter Minerals, and we're funding the funding programme for local community groups and initiatives.
01:53 And the Brighter Futures four initial pillars are sport and recreation, business enterprise, education and training and community needs.
02:02 And whilst most of our applications come from sports categories and recreation,
02:07 we would look to first of all out to the other categories.
02:10 The application process is very simple.
02:13 It used to be a two-step process, but we now just look for a special interest,
02:17 we've got a Brighter project and we really ask you to get those applications in.
