00:00 And on Wednesday, local media highlighted that the demonstrators that congregated in
00:04 the surroundings of the Congress of Guatemala were brutally repressed by security forces.
00:09 The demonstrators came to reject the swearing-in of the new magistrates of the Supreme Court
00:14 of Justice, which they considered to be a parliamentary maneuver to prevent the elected
00:19 government from taking office next year.
00:21 The Congress suspended the discussion of the budget to elect 13 new magistrates after a
00:27 delay of four years and 259 attempts, 13 new magistrates of the Constitutional Court were
00:35 elected.
00:36 In the meantime, social movements assure that they will remain in the streets until the
00:41 elected authorities take office on January 14, so that the will of the people is respected.
