00:03 Been farming this farm for over a hundred years,
00:05 I think it was in 2018.
00:06 So we've been at it for quite a while
00:08 and obviously we've expanded the farm over that time,
00:11 but you've always gotta be aware, I think, with farming
00:13 that there's gonna be something new each year
00:14 that's just gonna impact how you do things.
00:17 So I first heard about Luxomax
00:19 in one of our agronomy groups.
00:21 We walk around and we do a bit of a study
00:23 at the start of the year of what's coming up.
00:25 Luxomax was brought up as a new chemical
00:27 and we'd purchased a farm a few years beforehand
00:30 and it had a few issues with ryegrass,
00:32 we were finding it hard to kill.
00:34 So we thought, oh, we've got this new mode of action,
00:36 let's give this a shot on one of our paddocks.
00:38 And yeah, and it did a really good job.
00:40 Yeah, so we, since 2020, we've used it since then.
00:43 Using a new chemical, I guess there's always
00:47 a small risk too, 'cause you don't know exactly
00:50 what it's gonna do, but I think with the amount of trials
00:52 that come out and the hard work that's been done beforehand
00:56 to make sure that it does work,
00:57 you've got a bit of faith in that too.
00:58 But with Luxomax, we used it on just, I think,
01:01 200 hectares the first year.
01:02 Had good results, we're happy to move up, you know,
01:05 and we used, I think, 500 hectares worth this year.
01:08 And I understand why people wanna keep using
01:11 proven performers, but I think you've just gotta be wary
01:14 that they are gonna run out,
01:15 just like good old trifluralin's gonna run out eventually.
01:18 So you've gotta look at a different option
01:20 and even if it's just one break, you know,
01:22 every couple of years, you're gonna prolong it
01:24 just that much further.
01:26 This year, you know, we made sure everything was sown
01:28 under 30 mil, didn't have any issues at all.
01:31 That was into wet dirt.
01:33 I even tried on some lighter country and yeah, it was fine.
01:36 I didn't notice any damage in that.
01:38 Even on end rows, you know, where it gets flicked up,
01:41 there's no damage.
01:42 I've been really impressed with what Luxomax has done
01:44 to this paddock.
01:45 Yeah, we've looked over it, haven't seen
01:47 any new emergent grasses, so we've just left it.
01:50 Give it a little radish spray and that's it.
01:51 Try and keep rye grass away for as long as possible.
