00:16 The International Truck and Engine Corporation is headquartered in Chicago.
00:20 You might wonder what they're doing here at the auto show because you probably think of them in terms of commercial grade vehicles.
00:26 Well, after a 25-year absence, they're back because they have a new line of pickup trucks that are more consumer-oriented.
00:32 According to International, they're designed for a little bit more of an emotional response.
00:37 Well, believe me, anyone that sees one of these new XT pickup trucks coming down the street in their neighborhood is likely to have an emotional response.
00:45 Truck Trend Magazine editor Mark Williams tells us more.
00:49 Yeah, we saw some exceptional vehicles here today from International.
00:53 It's a company that's almost 100 years old with its roots back in agricultural equipment.
00:59 Here today, we saw the RXT, the CXT, the MXT, all of which have different variations of an international engine.
01:06 The smaller MXT that actually is a military vehicle right now but could go into commercial production has a V6 diesel engine.
01:14 I think it's called the VT265. It has about 230 horsepower.
01:19 The RXT, which is the brand new vehicle that they showed here at the Chicago Auto Show, has a VT365, which has a horsepower rating that is actually adjustable.
01:31 They can take it all the way from 210, almost up to 300 horsepower, depending on how they tune it.
01:36 The CXT, which is the big brother of the group, has the DT466, which is by far the most prominent engine that's out there for any of these commercial duty vehicles.
01:47 That also has a tunable straight-six engine that can go from 220 horsepower all the way up to 320 horsepower.
01:56 The CXT for next year, they say, people who are going to buy that vehicle are going to get the 300 horsepower straight-six in their CXT.
02:04 Towing and payload, for some people, is all that matters.
02:08 With vehicles this powerful, I mean, we've talked about horsepower numbers, but the torque numbers here are 600, 700 foot-pounds of torque.
02:15 We're talking about very easily being able to tow something 10, 12, 14,000 pounds with the V6.
02:22 We're talking about pulling something with the RXT at 18, 20,000 pounds.
02:30 And with the CXT, with its most powerful straight-six engine, very torque-biased, that thing will take a 24,000-pound trailer and pull it without really missing a beat.
02:42 And this CXT family that the International wants to market as the world's largest production pickup truck is going to be an interesting sell.
02:52 There are people out there who want the dynamism, if you will, I mean, the big, giant, dramatic statement when they enter a room.
03:02 And these vehicles are going to do that, whether they slap the name of their company on the side of it,
03:06 or they just want to park it in their parking lot and get their neighbors to start drooling, this vehicle is going to make a statement.
