00:00Inside Project Black Beauty and we're going to take a very unscientific and unofficial measurement using Scosche's SPL 1000 decibel meter.
00:11We're going to try to determine the level of sound that's emitted from the AirMotive Eliminator fuel pump.
00:19Just how loud or if you want to look at it from the other side, how quiet it is.
00:23The doors are shut. The windows are up.
00:26It's important to note that the car does not have a full load of fuel.
00:30The tank is actually just about empty, so that does play a role in what you hear when you cycle the key and you hear the pump come on.
00:38There's not a full load of fuel surrounding the pump, so it might be a little louder without the fuel than it is with the fuel.
00:46But just going to cycle the key and we'll have to clear the door chime, I'm sorry, the seatbelt chime and other incidental noises and just try to focus on what the numbers are once it's just the pump running.
01:00And hopefully before the pump for the suspension system kicks on.
01:05So here we go.
01:16So it looks like it's about 74, between 74 and 77 decibels seem to seem to float in that range.
01:30Be interesting to see what that comes out to be when there is a full load of fuel, a full tank of fuel on board.
01:38It's probably going to be much quieter, but in the big picture, it's not very loud and it's not annoying by any means.
01:44And of course, once the engine is fired up, you probably won't hear that fuel pump at all.
01:48You'll just hear the beautiful noise of the engine.
01:51So anyway, that's the unofficial test of sound for the Aeromotive Eliminator fuel pump.
