00:00 The 27-year-old driver, Nicholas Thieu, has now been formally charged by police with nine
00:08 offences over this fatal crash that claimed the lives of two teenage boys aged 13 and

00:15 Nicholas Thieu and his front seat passenger were on the run for 24 hours after allegedly
00:22 fleeing the scene of that accident.
00:25 And he has been charged with nine offences, including two counts of aggravated dangerous
00:31 driving causing death while driving at a speed of 45 kilometres over the speed limit.
00:37 He's also been charged with failing to stop and assist and also for being behind the wheel
00:42 despite never holding a driver's licence.
00:45 So police say that he is assisting them with their inquiries and he's due to appear in
00:51 court at Liverpool Court later this morning.
00:53 The family of both these teenage boys, aged 13 and 14, have released a joint statement
01:00 expressing their grief and pain over this loss.
01:04 In this statement they wrote, "Both of our families are still in shock and devastated
01:10 over this tragic crash.
01:12 We are continuing to come to terms with the loss of our much-loved son and brother."
01:17 And yesterday we also heard from friends of the two victims who spoke about what their
01:22 personalities were like and how well loved they were by their friends.
01:26 This is a little bit of what some of them had to say.
01:28 "Funny, twined."
01:29 "It's heartbreaking.
01:30 It's like no one deserved this.
01:31 It wasn't right."
01:32 "Always in a good mood, like never a dull moment with them boys, man."
01:40 "They were very, very happy boys."
01:41 "They were always happy, always put me in a good mood.
01:44 It shattered me.
01:46 I don't know.
01:47 I just don't feel real that they're really gone."
01:51 Much of the community here in southwest Sydney is also in shock over this accident and a
01:57 memorial has been set up at the crash site with members of the community coming to lay
02:02 flowers and teddy bears in tribute to these two young boys.
