00:00 Three storeys in brief and Rothwell's old Civic building will be auctioned, despite
00:05 pleas to Leigh City Council to avoid selling it off. The area's ward councillors had
00:10 campaigned for the offices to be transferred to a local community group, but the council
00:14 have said they need to consider all sales no matter how unpalatable due to its financial
00:19 situation.
00:20 Next, the council's decision to demolish six residential tower blocks has been confirmed
00:25 after efforts to defer the move failed. Bailey Towers, Brooklands Towers and Ramshead Heights
00:30 in Seacroft, as well as Leafield Towers in Moortown and two blocks in Armley will be
00:35 demolished in 2026.
00:38 And finally, the East Leeds Orbital Route has won the Transport Project of the Year
00:42 award at the 2023 British Construction Industry Awards. It was the biggest infrastructure
00:46 project undertaken in the region since the completion of the Leeds Inner Ring Road.
