00:00 I met Prime Minister Kishida in Jakarta during the ASEAN Summit, and I impressed upon him
00:08 that Japan remains a very important, friendly country, which has contributed immensely to
00:16 the development and technological advancement and industrial development in Malaysia.
00:22 And the present administration, of course, wants to enhance its bilateral relations in
00:28 all fields in a comprehensive manner in the strategic partnership between Malaysia and
00:34 Japan.
00:35 So I must therefore express my profound appreciation.
00:40 We have had very extensive discussions, even four-eyed, which covers a number of issues.
00:52 But I must begin with, of course, investments, which is critical for this country.
00:57 Japan had contributed in our initial phase of industrial development, and this year we
01:06 have a commitment of FDI from Japan that exceeds 30 billion ringgit, United States 6.33 billion
01:18 dollars.
01:19 This is very impressive from companies that are already investing in Malaysia, who without
01:32 exception made this commitment with Ambassador Pesant that they all had committed themselves
01:43 to increase and expand their development into Malaysia.
01:51 And of course, through METI, the Minister has alerted me that there are new investments
01:57 into Malaysia this year.
01:59 Thank you.
