00:00 5 Essential Monster Hunter Rise Tips The Monster Hunter games are a sprawling series
00:11 full of deep combat, endless combinations, skills and options. It's not something you
00:16 can pick up quickly and mastery takes time. However, we've got 5 crucial tips here that
00:21 will set you up fast, helping you make some crucial decisions, helping you understand
00:26 new features like the wire bugs and making sure you spend more time hunting and less
00:30 time wondering how to hunt. So with no further ado, here are 5 tips to help you get started
00:35 in Monster Hunter Rise.
00:37 All the Monster Hunter weapons are good, but pick one of these 3 to get you started. Choosing
00:42 the best Monster Hunter Rise weapon will always create some debate as there's so much choice
00:46 on offer. There are a myriad of options and upgrades and every weapon in the game is viable,
00:52 so we're going to suggest what we think are 3 of the best options. Dual Blades, Long Sword
00:57 and Light Bogan. The Dual Blades are our top choice for the newbie. Damage is low but they're
01:03 fast and keep you mobile so you can get in the face of a monster and unleash a colossal
01:07 amount of damage and only relent to dodge the big attacks. Then there's the Long Sword,
01:12 a weapon that hits a lot harder but is considerably slower. It's strength comes from a staggering
01:18 amount of combos and although it can be difficult to master, there's huge potential for damage
01:22 once you start stringing attacks together. However, if you want a ranged option then
01:26 the Light Bogan is your best option. It offers much more manoeuvrability than the Heavy Bogan,
01:31 giving you a great ability to position yourself in battle. Plus different ammo types let you
01:36 add on status effects and you can lay mine-like wyrven blasts to catch monsters out.
01:41 Mix armour skills to get the best Monster Hunter Rise armour. Like weapons, what the
01:46 best armour is and what sets or skills to use can be tricky to decide because there's
01:50 no catch-all answer. Everything is good at something. However, mastering armour skills
01:56 is vital to getting the best out of Monster Hunter Rise's armour. Everything you can wear
02:01 has a skill that acts like a buff and includes things like reducing the damage taken or increasing
02:06 elemental damage. You'll get the effect by wearing the item and you can stack these effects
02:10 by wearing another item with the same skill up to three times. The best way to check all
02:16 this is at the blacksmith where you can choose the forge and upgrade armour option and then
02:20 forge armour. If you click R3 on any piece of armour you can see, it'll show you the
02:24 active skill it has. From there you can click R3 again to leave that screen and check other
02:29 items or press the right bumper to see everything you have equipped and what skills are stacking.
02:34 From there you can compare skills or swap and craft armour to build out your gear. As
02:38 far as a full set of matching armour goes, that will buff all your damage resistance
02:42 up to three times while some sets have special buffs for wearing it all. Master the Monster
02:46 Hunter Rise Wirebugs for increased mobility and attacks.
02:52 The Monster Hunter Rise Wirebugs are a brand new mechanic and add a whole extra dimension
02:56 to traversal and combat. They're essentially a grappling hook that doesn't need to attach
03:00 itself to a surface, letting you launch yourself into the air to reach new areas and most importantly
03:05 access new combat moves. While fighting there are now Wirebug powered silk bind attacks
03:11 specific to each weapon that consume either one or two points of your Wirebug gauge. In
03:16 return you'll be able to access new attacks, better guards and increased mobility options
03:20 while fighting. For example, with the Jewel Blades, the Piercing
03:24 Bind silk bind move throws an explosive kunai at your foe. Land hits with the kunai embedded
03:30 and you'll increase the amount of damage the resulting explosion will cause. While the
03:34 Jewel Blades Shrouded Vault silk bind move launches you forward at your enemy and if
03:39 you get attacked while you're in the air you'll perform a counter.
03:43 You'll also encounter Jewel Lilies as you explore. Here you can place a great Wirebug
03:47 to create a travel point and jump to hard to reach places, either as a shortcut or often
03:52 to reach rarer materials. Make sure you master the art of the well done
03:57 steak. Cooking a well done steak in Monster Hunter
03:59 Rise takes timing. Get it right and you can fully replenish your stamina with the perfectly
04:04 cooked meat you create. However, it requires incredible precision so you need to know what
04:09 to look out for and how to time it. Break out the barbecue and you'll be able to cook
04:13 any raw meat you've gathered. The key to a well done steak is to pay attention to the
04:18 texture of the meat you're cooking. The change from raw to rare is obvious and pressing A
04:22 here will give you a rare steak which restores a moderate amount of stamina. Go too far though
04:28 and you'll burn it, which has a chance to reduce stamina instead of refilling it.
04:33 What you're looking for is a brief moment between rare and burnt when you'll notice
04:36 the texture of the meat change slightly as it hits well done. It's approximately 8 seconds
04:41 from the moment you place the raw meat down so hit A as soon as you see it because you'll
04:45 have less than a second. Once you know what you're looking for you should be able to achieve
04:49 a well done steak consistently. Change the camera and lock on options to suit
04:57 you. Monster Hunter Rise's lock on and targeting
05:01 options are there but they're not exactly obvious and you may need to play around with
05:05 the settings to find a setup you prefer. One of the first things you want to do is figure
05:09 out whether you prefer the target or focus camera settings. Hit plus to bring up the
05:13 menu and then scroll to the right with R and select options. Scroll all the way down to
05:18 camera style. By default this will be on target camera which essentially means you have free
05:23 control over the camera but you can press L to spin your camera to whatever you're fighting.
05:27 Or if you're not in combat you'll just point the view to wherever your character is facing.
05:31 Alternatively if you want to stay focused on a monster whenever you're close to it you
05:35 can choose the focus camera. By pressing the right stick in you will cycle through targeting
05:40 the large monsters in your area and when fighting the camera will constantly spin and stay locked
05:44 on. This can cause some problems though with wirebug moves as your aim will always be towards
05:49 the monster. So those are our 5 essential Monster Hunter
