00:00Larian Boss says don't play the older Divinity games unless you want the lore.
00:03Talking to us here at GamesRadar, Larian CEO Sven Vink explains his view by comparing the Divinity series to Baldur's
00:09Gate.
00:09If you played Baldur's Gate 3 because it was a cinematic narrative experience, you shouldn't play the previous ones unless
00:15you want to know the lore, he states.
00:16If you played because you really enjoyed tactical combat or co-op multiplayer or really having lots of freedom, you
00:22should definitely play Original Sin 2, because that's a game that was a blueprint for BG3.
00:26Original Sin 1 also, although in a slightly lesser manner, because it didn't have the companions that we had in
00:31those two, so I would point you in the direction of those games.
00:34We should point out that Baldur's Gate 3 and the Divinity games take place in different universes, but they're united
00:38by the team's creative philosophies and ideas, making 2023's Baldur's Gate 3quel the most contemporary benchmark for whatever terrors the
00:45new Divinity will throw at us.
00:47But when it comes to playing the older Divinity games, Vink concludes, if you really want to know everything, there's
00:51games that came before, but they're a bit outdated by now.
00:54They are quite old.
