00:08 In addition to the health sector, we have also had in place a cooperation project in

00:30 Mr. President, the vote we cast today in support of this draft resolution represents our great
00:37 concern over the adverse effects of this embargo on the well-being of the peoples of Cuba.
00:46 We are of the view that the embargo prevents the peoples of Cuba from fully enjoying their
00:52 human rights, including the rights to development, as it undermines the efforts of Cuba in achieving
01:01 the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
01:05 Mr. President, as described in the report of the UN Secretary General on the draft resolution,
01:12 the embargo has affected the full potential of Cuba to be a more active actor in international
01:20 trade and development and international cooperation.
01:24 In addition, we have also come to the understanding that the embargo has directly and indirectly
01:31 affected the critical sectors of the Cuban economy, including public health, nutrition,
01:38 agriculture, as well as investment, tourism, and banking.
01:44 Therefore, Timor-Leste joins other delegations here in calling for the lifting of the embargo,
01:50 which will help the peoples of Cuba to fully enjoy their human rights, including the right
01:58 to development, in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.
02:03 I thank you, Mr. President.
